I checked my tracking on BMWUSA.COM and it says my production has started and also list all the specs of my car.. Anyone else see this? My dealer told me first week of July but I guess they are ahead of schedule.

Are you doing ED or US Delivery? I wonder if US Delivery vehicles are going into production sooner

I wonder if US Deliveries are being sent into production first since they have to come to the US which I assume increases the build time

Maybe not increased build time, but you're taking shipping out of the equation with ED. They probably started us delivery because they have to account for shipping time.

Yes. Our cars (I'm september 1st ED delivery as well) won't go into production until August. JIT inventory - BMW doesn't want to have to store the cars very long before delivery.

I have heard that boats are capsizing on the way from Europe in the Atlantic. Hopefully no M5's will be on any boat to the US that capsizes

If production has started now, wouldn't you be looking at a delivery time of early august? Knowing that it takes 1 week to build it, and 5-6 weeks to be shipped to the east coast? With a little longer time for people on the west coast. So people that are getting build times in july should be looking at september delivery, maybe earlier. Correct me if i am wrong.

My dealer called me a few days ago to inform me production had started, and that there is slight possibility that I might have my car end of July to early August if there are no delays at port.

Fantastic! It'd be great to have these cars sooner so we can enjoy them longer before winter hits =)

For those taking delivery in Sept for ED when should the build process start? I would assume it will be more than 2 weeks before the scheduled delivery date.
