koni FSD shot and leaking....

I installed it for 3 years (~36k miles) and it failed on me today. I saw oil leaking from the rear shock and heard loud noises when driving over bumps. Any idea if they sell the shocks in pair? I could only find vendors selling them in a set of 4. I'm also wondering if I could still drive the car carefully and not damaging other parts.

Would appreciate your input.
Thanks.

are you the original purchaser?

I think koni has a lifetime warranty on it's passenger car shocks/struts. you should be able to get it replaced. Though I'd definitely want 2 rears, just to make sure the wear was even on both sides.

You might want to give koni a call and see about claiming a warranty replacement.

EDIT: here ya go

Thanks. I'm the original purchaser. Does anyone know if I can still drive the car to work (10 miles one way) while I'm waiting for my new set of shocks?

Recommend not. Of course, only you can know how badly the shock behaves - gotta say it don't sound good.

I had Koni's replaced 10 years after purchase on a motorcycle....they immediately made good on their lifetime warranty!

You're best served taking it in for replacement, both rears, ASAP.

Will they warranty both?

I called Koni and they said I could still drive the car. I don't notice any difference except for the noise. I filed a claim with them and hopefully I will receive the replacement soon. Not sure if they are going to send me just one shock or a pair.

I'd call them back and try to get 2 shocks. If you didn't confirm that before, I'd be willing to bet they are only sending one.

Update: I received the replacement shock exactly 7 days from the day I faxed in all my information to them. They are quite prompt in replying emails too. I would say I'm satisfied with their service.

New shock put in and will be sending the bad one to them. I'm enjoying my car again!
