BMW silver alloy spray paint

I've been meaning to do the DIY on repairing curb rash, but I've gone to a few BMW dealerships now. Thing is, none of them are allowed to sell it, or they don't have any in stock for anything. Anywhere i can go to get some?

if not, what's the best alternative you'd say? This is for repairing 162s by the way. I've read the DIY and the pages at the end suggesting some, but they're a little bit dated to me, and I'd like some fresh ideas out here.

The Wurth paint may still be out of stock because of the recall, which began in October last year(!). I gave up waiting for it and got the Einsett (1Z) Silber based on multiple recommendations from others: http://www.properautocare.com/wusilasppa.html

I repaired curb rash on two 162 rims. The 1Z color matches nearly perfectly, probably exactly the same as the Wurth. It's not a tough repair, but it is very time-consuming and if I could do it again, I might just take the wheels to a wheel repair place and save myself two days of doing it.

The only difficulty I had is in the clear coat (use Wurth for that). I couldn't get the clear to match the original -- meaning I can feel where I repaired the wheel, it feels "rougher," not the smooth slick surface of the OEM clear. I polished and Zainoed the finished wheel, but didn't wet sand, maybe that'd make a difference. But I was tired of doing them by the time I was done.

More likely, maybe I didn't use enough clear coat. I did 3 layers, but it sprays in a very narrow streak, unlike the paint. So maybe you need to do a few passes for each coat.

But whatever, it looks perfect and you'd never know the rim was repaired. When I take my summer tires off this winter, I may strip them down and repaint the clear, but it's probably not worth the trouble since you can't see the difference, just feel it.

Best of luck. If there's a tire repair place near you that will do it for <$100 per wheel, I'd consider that, though. The time savings may be worth it to you.
