Reduction of rotational mass on suspension feel

HI Gents,

I've got a 2008 E90 335 with the sport package and all OEM at this time. Down the road, I'm likely to acquire new summer wheels that will more than likely be a few pounds lighter than the 18" OEM sport wheels (those will be used for winter tires). Additionally, I'd like to move to non-RFT for my summer package, and when the rotors are ready for replacement, the Z4 35si (something like that) has some nice two-piece rotors that fit the 335 nicely.

With this weight reduction (at least up front with the 2 piece rotors) from various components, should I expect to feel a signficant (negative) difference in the suspension feel of the car, or is this not enough to really worry about?

On my previous car (non-BMW), I got into the whole aftermarket suspension effort, and I really don't think I want to do that again. Certainly, the 2 piece rotors are optional if taking that much weight off the corner starts to do unusual things. Thanks in advance for any suggestions or help.

No significant effect; don't worry about it.
I'm getting those rotors too when I'm due.

Unless the price is beyond the limit, you'll fall in love with what can be done to a 335i suspension!

Thanks for the replies. I'm actually at a track now before going into a drivers meeting. I'll be a smarter driver by COB today, and will have a good feel for the car.

I wouldn't think it would matter. None of the weight reduction is riding on the suspension. It is all on the ground.

In general weight reduction, particular in unsprung weight (and even more particularly in rotating unsprung weight) is universally a good thing, so long as they are strong enough to not break under stress.

You're good!

Motivation & inspiration may be had by driving a 3 w/LSD - you really, really won't want to go back to open diffs....

It will be tough to feel a couple lbs of unsprung weight reduction by simply going from the oem 335i to the Z4 rotors.
