Haze problems help please
Hi just washed, clay bar, applied poor boys polish/sealant to my car and very satisfied. Next step was to apply a very thin layer of dodo purple haze pro to my 08 blk e92.. And was overall satisfied. Until I woke up and noticed a grey haze left mainly on the hood. But also in other spots. What did I do wrong??? O yeah all of this was done properly by hand...
Thanks |

Waxes with higher amounts of carnuaba can cause sweating (the haze you see). Even if applied perfectly it can happen for a few days. Much more noticeable when humid and on dark cars. Never tried purple haze but did notice a slight haze in a few small spots on my wife's black car in august when I applied supernatural.

+1 to what Knells said. I got really bad hazing with Blue Velvet so I switched to Purple Haze and found it easier to work with. The hazing usually comes a day or so after applying the wax and especially if your car sits in the hot sun. It usually goes away after the next wash.

They are great for polishing and removing defects but aren't really practical for applying paste wax. The haze won't last long and is a property of the wax. If it really bothers you next time you might want to try a polymer sealant.

Nope, just like others have said waxes with high caunauba content will haze when hot and in direct sun most often when applied too thickly. Supernatural is one of the biggies that does that quite often.
Don't know how much purple haze you have left but maybe try PB Natty blue, never had that haze nearly as much. Also do not get why people say a DA is not practical for wax applications, I do it all the time, just remove wax from container and apply to pad(use a heat gun slightly warming the container falls right out). It's hands down the best way to apply thinly and evenly every time. Also makes your wax go way further. |

You applied a sealer/polish and then wax? You really should wait 24 hours or so before applying wax after the sealer so everything bonds correctly. Regardless, high carnuba waxes can haze in hot or sunny conditions. Try to spread the wax as thin as you possible can. (I do sometimes use my DA to apply, depends on my mood.) Like Bobble said, it does help you apply it thinner. The haze will typically go away after a wash or two.

We have a good article in Ask a Pro Blog about carnauba waxes sweating here that explains it in a bit more detail if interested.
