Just ordered 328i... MY 2012
I place an order for a 2012 328i Sport Line on 6/2 but I think the order was placed into the system on 6/4. I didn't realize that the production for the 2013 was going to start in July and now realizing this I am not sure if it warrants changing the order because I wouldn't be getting any different options based on the 2013 build sheets. The price would increase but I'm not really concerned about that as it isn't drastic. The strange thing is that the order was placed on the 4th and I have received a production number but it is only status 111. What is everyone's thoughts?

Please tell me if you go into production. I'm picking up ED on July 13 and still haven't gone into production!
Decision on 2013 model is all about options you're ordering.... Not much changed on the car. |

The status on My BMW has not changed to "in production" but my CA advised me today that the car is status 150 which means it has begun production. It might be a case of where things are happening so quickly that the site is not updating as rapidly. Still when I called BMW NA this morning they reported that the car was still awaiting a production schedule. I think I am going to stick with the 2012 and try to re-negotiate the price when I go in to square up with the paperwork since I will be in fact taking delivery of a previous model year vehicle. Don't know how much more off I would get but one can only hope.

MSRP: $45,595 Edmunds invoice: $41,945 2013 w/sport auto and same options listed. MSRP: $46,220 Calculated Invoice @ 8% off: $42,522 The 2013 prices have been listed on this site. Double check my figures to be sure. Average increase for 2013 is about $600 for your configuration. If you're leasing, then it's no big deal as lease factors will likely stay. If you're buying, then you'll have a 1 model year older car when you go to sell it, but given that your 2012 price is already lower, and your 2012 will have low miles, it should come out even later one as well. You call of course. Plus, if your 2012 is already in production, then you'll get it sooner. But, I'd be concerned as to why your car hasn't already started building given the order went in June 2. 2013 production starts July 1st. Oh, remember, there was something about an N20 engine shortage. Maybe that's why your order is being held up. If there really is an N20 shortage, then I'll bet even 2013 328i's will take longer than usual until engine supply comes up to speed. Just guessing. |

Remember the 2012 model "year" has only been about 5 months long. |

Right now I think I am going to stick with this order and negotiate the price. I think I am right above invoice pricing and I would like to be right at it or better. I don't think that is unreasonable.

Just received word from the CA that I have been confirmed for the PCD for August 17th. The car is supposed to finish production on June 20th. The 328i will be among the last batch of 2012's coming stateside. Now, I just wait.
