BMS DCI

About to pull the trigger on the BMS Dual cone intake. This is perfect because I am only looking to spend max of $120 on an intake and it fits in with my price range. Besides the cool sound what kind of hp gains could I expect? how are your experiences with it? I have 6spd transmission.

I have it along with the jb+. I installed it after the jb+ and can't say I noticed any power increase. I got it mostly for the sound, and am happy with that aspect.

Its probably the most popular intake for the N54 You will be in good company. Lots of positive feedback. Its not as flashy as some of the other intakes but performs well and is at a great price. Can't go wrong for 95.00. Most of my customers get it along with their tune and love the sound.

In that price range, your only other choice is a drop-in filter, which many of us are running. You can read about the pros and cons drop-in filter vs DCI (there are plenty of threads)

Go for it. I have one. Sounds great, install was pretty easy. A quick install tip if you get it. Take the cowl off. It says in the instructions that it is optional, but it will save you time and frustration in the end.

good sound and some power gain if you tune your car - easy to install/remove/clean which is an added plus

Great sound and it's cheap. I agree with the other poster to remove the cowl. I did the DCI install at the same time as the JB4 and it would have been a royal PITA to have done it with the cowl on. For a BMW mod, you can't go wrong with it.

The BMS DCI is your "Best Value" intake available. The best intake is prob a true cold air intake (STETT, UR, Dinan, etc), but also cost $1k+

You mean start around $400 and can reach $1k+.

I got my STETT CAI for $400 so I think you should be more careful when posting factual information reg. a product and their respective costs.

My wastegate adaptation value dropped (A VERY good thing) after going from an upgraded panel filter to DCI.

Seriously -- It's an intake bro, relax. The other problem is some people have found difficulty installing the STETT on their car because of structural beams getting in the way of the CAI piping. Now maybe it's just me, but I am not going to fuck around w/ any of the structural components in the car & ruin the handling dynamics.

And if you'd like to be factual, unless you're building a dedicated track car, an upgraded FMIC would be much more beneficial than a $400 intake system.
