need help with N54 water pump

My water pump failed so I decided to replace with new OEM pump. New pump went in and this had also failed. When I had a close look we found that both pumps had the electric motor flooded with coolant. Not sure what to do next???

Take it out and return the defective part with your receipt. They should give you a new one. Did u also change the t-stat?

No I haven't changed the t-stat but I will now, just wanted to know if this is a common broblem with the water pumps getting flooded with coolant?.
