Simoniz Glasscoat & Teflon Protection

Does anyone have experience with the Simoniz Glasscoat that the dealer wants me to buy for $695?

Is it better and more cost effective to buy a Zanio or Adams kit and use that?

you're better-off doing it yourself using zaino 2x a year. paint sealing is not hard and you're assured of the quality since you did it on your own (i.e. clay bar first)

besides, simoniz is not exactly a known brand for sealing paint.

If you are looking for something permanent, look at Opti-Coat which will last indefinitely as long as you dont use abrasives on the car. It will outperform anything the dealer will put on and its ~60$.
If you dont want to go that route, there are dozens of sealants and/or hybrid waxes available that will perform the same job as what the dealer is putting on, for less than 20$.

BTW, Teflon requires 400 degrees in order to bond with metal or painted surfaces, so its just a marketing gimic because people have heard of the name.

I had it done on my 135. Almost 3 years now and paint looks just as good as new. I have only done the occasional wash. Probably will have it done again on my 328 by years end (waiting for lease end on 135)

A few years ago, the dealer offer to put the Simoniz sealent on my new car for $600, I said no. Then they lower it $300 and I said what the heck, I will give it try. It just goes to show you the hugh margin of profit the dealer have on these things. Anyway, the sealant lasted maybe 2 years or so, its nothing more than an expensive wax job.
My next car, I pass on the sealent, went to the local detail shop and ask about the Simoniz system and they offer to do it for a $100. I ended up not putting the Simoniz on but thats another route you can go if you want to save a few bucks.

LOL, exactly. If you went in and looked at a 328i for 40k and the guy immediately slashed the price to 20k would you maybe feel slightly suspicious?
