M-Sport Tires

the 2013 allows for all season or summer performance tires. Does anyone know how good the performance tires are in rain? What are people's opinions of practicality of the 19's vs the 18's. I'd assume if you want a softer ride you'd take the 18's with the all season., no?

Here in Australia, we have the choice - or lack thereof of just the 19" 403M wheels/all season tyre combo. 225F/255R

What specifically do you want the car to do best?

18" summer performance tires will give you the highest performance; 19' all-season, worst.

With respect to rain, it really depends on the specific tire. Some all-season are not that good, while some summer performance tires do very well.

If I end up w/ the Msport F30 probably choose the square setup w/ the all seasons since I'll have aftermarket wheels.

19" summertyres on a 335i should give the best performance and best looks. Also depending on the tyrebrand that is.

Take a look at this article:

Cheers

Are the Msport tires automatically run flats in either summer or all seasons.

Get rid of the run flats, put some 18 all season's for all around piece of mind and comfort. If you want the aggressive look go for the 19 summers.

Yeah the tires are all RF. Looks like there are three wheel options available on the line :
18 square
18 mixed
19 mixed ($900 option)

Even if one choose 18's, it's probably nicer to go with the mixed setup...

If you get rid of the RF, what are the options. Get the spare kit or get it towed?

I'd say best performance would be the 18" staggered setup with summer tires as that has less unsprung weight over all compared to the weight of 19" wheels and tires.
Plus a better ride as the 19's have less sidewall.
But then, RFT's have such stiff sidewalls anyway the ride difference is likely minor.

Due to the body size of the F30, I think 19's look most at home.

Seeing as you are in California, it is not likely you'll need any sort of winter performance you might see out of an all-season tire. Your average modern Summer performance tires are more than proficient in the rain.

Thus, my vote goes to 19" Summer Performance
