ATR protuning

Let's discuss. I want to hear from shops that are doing this and why more are not doing it.

Myself I have experience with building and tuning stand alone EMS systems (S14/S54 platforms) from concept through completion. There are numerous race shops that can do this.

With a manufacturer providing the software and training, why is this not taking off? The flash based platform is as easy as it gets. This is why the piggy back has made it so big. Tweak the power parameters and let the ECU do the protection and corrections. Closed loop PiD auto tune is easy.

I wish that ION PID feedback loop control was more mainstream from the manufacturers.
Once this is implemented the tuner crowd will have it made.

There isn't a discussion because ATR isn't out yet.

He is talking about ATP. As for why there are not more shops - it takes alot to get ATP. You have to have a dyno, 1million+ insurance/liability, and approved by Cobb to be an Authorized Cobb Pro-Tuner.

ATR is well worth the wait for those with good experience tuning and an understanding of fundamentals and theory For the majority it will benefit alot of you to get a protune if you can afford it. There are substantial gains to be had over OTS maps

^ and it cost $3000....most tuners dont want to deal with petty cash $400-$600 tune and is not worth it in their eyes.

Also they all know how stingy a BMW owner is, so no they have to worry about making back their money.

I believe that EFI Logics in Connecticut had a Cobb tuning day within last month.

It's pretty expensive to get ATP from Cobb set up in your shop. They ask for some pricey initial fees
