Wastegate Actuator replacement
Hey guys
Any of you had any experience with replacing the wastegate actuator on our engine? My car is giving me limp modes when i go into boost, saying that the waste gate was closed/stuck. Any Ideas? Thanks |

Sometimes the lever arm shaft - the one that goes into the exhaust housing and connects the wastegate valve to the actuator arm - gets very sloppy and binds up. Only fix for that is to replace the turbo.

I'm running Cobb Sport 4.01, no other engine mods and it only happens when the engine is at optimal (117-120 C) temperature's. never happens when the engine is cool, which is weird. i do notice that when i switched tunes from 3.01 - 4.01, that the problem didn't happen as much. I hope i won't have to replace the turbo, thats gonna be a huge PITA. |

If you threw code P30FE, a few of us running Cobb have been having this issue. I get it, but only at the track. Supposedly, the new maps will address this but I'm thinking about trying a different tune.

Ahhhh okay thats good, I find that the problem is exasperated by octane boosters. Just as an update

I have a similar problem. Can you guys help me? It is throwing 30ff underboost and going into limp mode. Had a smoke test done and the guy said its my waste gate actuator. Ecs sells new actuators for $32 but the guy wants to charge 7 hrs of labor is that fair ?

My N54 encountered the exact same problem.
Since mine is a CPO, I took it in for repair. At first they replaced some VANOS components and some ledges/bearings. That still didn't do the trick...After they noticed that their was significant play in the wastegate...They chalked that up as the culprit. End result? Two brand new turbos and oil lines...Car runs like a champ now. |

I've actually been having similar issues. I have no codes but my my car has been overboosting lately after going full wot at full temp like you. I just got the wastegate actuator in today and will try to get it installed tomorrow if I have time. I'll report back when I get it in to see if it ended up fixing the problem.
