Anything is better than stock especially at higher boost levels.

I run the evolution racewerks and it's awesome. I maintain 80 Celsius temp during hard pulls. I love it

for stock turbos ETS 5" is super easy to install and does a great job at keeping IAT's at bay.

So why is the stock FMIC such a POS? It seems like you can get a decent after market for close to OEM price. With such a beast of a motor, why did BMW skimp on such an important yet simple piece of hardware?

On stock settings, the car is completely fine. The minute owners start increasing the boost & pursuing more power, the "weak" points start to reveal themselves. The intake becomes restrictive, the FMIC doesn't meet the car's cooling needs, the DVs + CP crack/break under high boost, turbos get burnt out from being over worked. But that's why when you start seriously modding, it's nearly impossible to keep it a small expense. But IMO, I'd rather put a dent in my bank account then break the bank fixing the engine.

Big Tom is prob best value, but from retailers: Helix, Evolution Racewerks, ETS, AMS, Forge, HPF, AA & Wanger. Take your pick, if you're not tracking your car you can buy any of them. IMO, Helix + its stepped design is the best FMIC, but if you're planing on tracking or dragging your car, you should prob and get some more detailed info about each.

lol @ big tom. The money you'll spend in labour butchering your car is better spent on one that fits properly, like an ETS 5" or the HPF which requires very minor trimming.

Wanger is fairly new, I'm interested to see if it actually works as well as its been advertised. Also not really a fan of how it uses all the OEM connections either.

Let me know what logs you want. It performs just the same as all the others that have posted logs. It has freed up throttle response, gained some intake sound and keeps temps in line. The stock couplers are not a factor at these levels.
