Vishnu/FFTEC Single Turbo: Launching like a mofo (New World Record)
Went to the track again tonight to dial-in the new 2-step rev limiter/launch control code. And by the end of the night, I think we nailed it. The car hooked up so well that it cut a 1.577s 60' time. In fact, I was so surprised by the launch, that i mistimed my 2nd gear shift! So I unintentionally rode the rev limiter for ~0.8s. Despite this, the car still cut a 11.007@130.7. I was then told that I been a cage and it was the end of our night. I'm quite confident the car has a 10.6-10.7 in it with a theoretically perfect run. And that is what we are shooting for with this current power level. But it looks like we will need a cage before we can go any further. But today was still a success as it told us that a 644whp 335i can indeed launch with the best of them
The engine tune hasn't changed in a few weeks. So it's still making the same power it has been making for a while. So all we have been focusing on lately is getting that power to the ground. And we are making progress. I don't think any e90 chassis has ever run this quick of a 60' time. Let alone with a 6MT. Datalog: Video: Timeslip: Last edited by OpenFlash; 05-17-2012 at 01:21 PM.. |

Why don't you wait until you get a good time before posting...just my opinion. With a 60" of 1.57 even a stock turbo car would do like < 11.3.

Awesome launch there Shiv Like you say, you need very quick hands to get into 2nd before hitting the limiter.
I had a similar incident in my DCT 135i when pinging a great launch and was also that shocked that I bloody double shifted on the paddle due to leaving it in S not M Have not managed to replicate it since One thing I'm a bit confused about though - Your speedo only seems to be reading 120mph when you lift off the throttle?!?! It also seems to be quite slow moving over 100mph given the awesome power this thing has... Is it out for some reason? |

Joking aside, there is no stock turbo 6MT capable of running the times you suggest. 6AT perhaps since they launch in 2nd and cut out one whole shift (which in itself is a 0.3 seconds advantage). According to the vbox, my 0-60mph times were in the mid-3 second range. Stock turbo 6ATs, by comparisons, can cut 3 flat 0-60mph times by virtue of their torque converter and no need for a shift. But 644whp does a pretty good job of more than making up for that time lost once it is above 60mph Quote:

Nice run. Looks like the back end kicked out a little on the launch which may have caused you to hit the rev limiter?
With all these hard miles of testing and dragging have you seen any signs of failure in the block or transmission? |

Nice times, but....
As mentioned before, why not post after actually running 10's? I get that you're marketing, but it's kind of repetitive. Build up an xi already, shatter the records, and while you're at it- figure out how to switch off the front wheels via tune/switch for the rest of us so we can switch to Vishnu

I'm also being selfish because I want testing on an xi (where I think the real 1/4 times will come from).
