2013 N54 Still Continues
Looks like we have not seen the last of the N54. It will continue in the 2013 335iS model cars. Question is, will the new 2013 335iS come in the F30 series coupe style trim or in the previous 2011-2012 style ? (Edit: Duh it will be E92 body style as mention in the E Code column)
Seems like the N54 will stay alive perhaps until the coming of the M3 Tri-Turbo Last edited by BQTuning; 05-16-2012 at 09:17 AM.. |

That's normal for BMW. They always release the sedan version of the new platform first alongside the previous platform coupe/convertible.
You'll see for example '99 E36 323is, 328is, and M3 and '99 E46 sedans, '06 325Ci, 330Ci, M3 and '06 E90s. Gives a little more longevity if you have a coupe.

2013 335is is a known quantity with this and other thriving communities and a substantial range of aftermarket parts. It has also been in production for many years, so most of the bugs have been worked out, or at least are known.
The 2014 M3(sedan)/M4(coupe) will be an all-new car with what we believe will be an all-new engine. All-new means all-new problems. The buyers of the first several years of production of any new model almost always wind up being guinea pigs and are forced to deal with many new problems that don't manifest themselves until full-scale production gets underway. And then there's the new engine. There's a good chance that it will have roots in the N54/55, but that's not a given. And even if it does have similarities to our current engine, there no doubt will be enough changes that our tuners will be starting from scratch in some areas. So TL;DR... buy a 335is while you still can. |

I planned on ordering an IS in the next few weeks to get one of the last 2012 models, but with this news looks like I'll wait a hair longer and get a 2013 model! so pumped about this news

Getting a vehicle at the end of it's life cycle is always a safe bet. That being said, it typically has more cost reduction changes applied to it, many of which are unknown to the customer. I see this first hand at work. Typically, it is best to buy around LCI to get a well engineered product, with market quality issues that have been rectified.

The N54 is great... But truthfully, I bet the N55 will get there too. For anyone who is patient, they'll get a good product in the end.

Someone on 1addicts said the 135is wasn't getting the n54 because it wouldn't pass upcoming emission laws. What a load of BS. viva la n54!!!!
