EGR valves - difference in build up

Just finished cleaning the EGR valves on both my 320d and my wife's 318d.

My valve which has done 47k was badly coked up with a lot of hard deposits and took some time to clean (I love my parts washer) whereas my wife's on 73k had more oily deposits, was easier to clean and much less restricted.

My 320d is used on longer journeys whereas the 318d is rarely used and when it is its mainly short journeys.

I expected the opposite, what are your findings?
