Cig touched interior door pillar
Hello, someone was driving and went over a bump or something and touched a lit cigarette to the whitish cloth on the door pillar in my car... there is a dark ash spot, I dont think it burned... I haven't tried to clean it or anything yet because I dont want to spread it around.
What is the best way to remove it? I think it is just ash/carbon thanks! |

"Someone" was just driving in your car, smoking in it and managed to damage it? Good God man.
There is probably no way to fix it if its burned into the cloth. |

Just a mark? Use a clean towel with water and see if you can blot it out. Do not rub. If that doesn't work, use a little mild soap with your towel.

I'm not sure shoe cleaner is safe. I would prefer to use something that is color safe such as woolite or any mild soap.

Brush it off? Seriously, with a tooth brush or something?

I didn't wanna make the fabric get little pills on it you know like the inside of a sweater or somethin', or make it fuzzy... I guess they wouldn't make the fabric so that it would be destroyed if someone tried to clean it though... I'll try blotting and other things...
thanks for the suggestions doodz |

Just don't use too much water to clean it. Try a baby wipe on it -- gentle cleaning and just the right amount of water (i.e., very little).
If the baby wipe doesn't work, Google for "cleaning upholstery" because the job will be similar here. Generally, you use a dry form of soap suds or a cleaner with very little water.

I've had good luck on pillar/headliner upholstery using Shout wipes. They're intended for fabric and not too wet.
