Plastic engine cover

just got done replacing spark plugs in my 2007 335i is there any reason i have to put the plastic engine cover back on? i think it would be easier to do any maintance in future without it an it looks cooler too.

Your hood will be much warmer without plastic, possibly paint peel off or going dull in future.

highly doubt this. especially for those of us that are lucky enough to have the hood insulation.

Is there a possibility of rising engine bay temps? If so you could probably lose a few hp if you have dci's

if u can stand the noise then go ahead leave it off. personally, I thought my car sounded like a Mitsubishi Fuso diesel with it off.

I removed it on my 335 and the engine is so loud, sounds like a diesel engine but the sound of the turbos working is amazing

How the hell can you hear the turbos over the tic tic tic tic fucking tic. I'd suggest the best thing to hear the "spoooool" would be to put the engine cover on and leave the cowling off

Without the cowl means without the cabin filter. Will this have any effects on the a/c?

no, no affect other then the possibility of dirt and leaves.

but without cowl/cabin filter, water is not drained into the cars gutters. so its only recommended(if recommended at all) to do it on dry days. I was very impressed with the sounds without the cowl and filter.

The ticking noise is only at low rpm's, after 2500 rpm's the engine sounds normal, i have installed K&N intakes and i guess this is why the sucking noise of the turbos is so loud

You can remove the lower cowl and put the filter back on after.
