I know it wouldn't get me far, but of you had a stock 335i and 2k$...what would be my next moves to gain the most performance out of the car?
Any links to similar posts are appreciated. I've done searches but not having much luck finding what I'm looking for. |

I'm not gonna use meth, but I thought if you use COBB for your main tune you'd still have to piggy back the JB4 of Procede into it for meth management (which at that point you might as well save the money, not buy the AP and use the JB4/Procede as your main tune to begin with)

So you can buy the AEM failsafe or buy a meth kit that has a standalone meth system (HFS-4 by Aquamist). Not much performance gains obviously until COBB comes out with a public meth map. But that should be "very soon" |

Gotcha, right now I'm my intake/DPs in the mail, paying for my FMIC + install away from FBO. All I'll need at that point is for COBB to release their Stage 2 + FMIC maps & then I'll have 400 whp/420 wtq under my right foot

Michelin PSS + Tune
With the left over $250 a weekend doing a HPDE event. Or (if you already have good tires) Coilovers + tune

I'm in the same boat as OP with stock car but I think i'm going to go with suspension stuff first; coilovers or shocks/springs and maybe an LSD. That way I'll be ready for high power and it seems like more stuff is becoming available all the time (single turbo soon) so it wouldn't hurt to wait a little while for tune plus other hardware to see what will eventually available.....Having the stock sport suspension with run flat tires I think the ride sucks; car bounces around all over the place like you're in the back of a school bus or something and bumps are very harsh. The suspension reminds me of the '99 540i I just got rid of with stock shocks with about 80,000 miles on them only the ride was better in the 540i....

I'm waiting for the V40x maps to be officially released (and for all the necessary mods to be installed on my car)
nikitino25 I'd say at least buy a tune first and take advantage of the unleashed N54, regardless of who you go with you'll be getting +70 hp/80 tq. I know I'm keeping my suspension/tire/rim setup until I wear out my RFTs that are on the car now. After that I'll prob drop in some H&Rs and a set up of multi-spoke sport rims and tires. No point in immediately replacing the tires unless you need fresh treads Last edited by benzy89; 05-08-2012 at 08:26 PM.. |

Yep I'm almost trying to wear out my tires so I can get some new non runflats. There is no problem fitting non run flats to stock 18" wheels is there? I was also thinking of getting stuff like fmic and intake along wtih the tune but I might just get the tune first and then add parts separately to kind of guage what each mode does for me. Benzy89, what are v40x maps that will be released soon and what mods do you need for them?
