DP's Installed. Questions?
Hey guys, just installed the VRSF DPs on the car last night and they sound good. Just had some post-install questions.
After the install, I was just wondering, is it normal to hear more engine noise due to the Downpipes? Like when the engine cover is off, you hear that loud ticking from the engine... now with downpipes I can hear some of the same ticking from the DP area when the car cold starts even with the engine cover on and hood closed. Also during idle, after the exhaust quiets down, I can feel in the cabin what seems like the car is cycling causing a very minor vibration but rpms stay at 600 during the cycling vibration feeling... its like the car has a very slight drone to it now... anyone else have this? The space between the downpipes was very tight... maybe enough to barely squeeze a coin through... is it possible the DP's are slightly rubbing? No vibrations during driving and WOT though. |

The wastegate rattle is more audible with dp's. Also, there is a very slight additional cabin vibration after installing aftermarket dps. It's very minor, but can tell when a car has dps.

I actually kind of don't like the DP's... the spool is so instant it sounds kinda weird... like a diesel truck almost. Is it normal to hear the turbos spooling with low throttle at 1 psi or less? because I hear it clearly when driving and windows down. Might try to get a video |

You're might hear the turbos slightly, but most of the turbo sound should be coming from an aftermarket intake (or dci's). Just for reference, I'm not sure I can hear the turbos spooling with very low throttle when I have the stock intake on. Hopefully others will chime in and give their experiences. |

The turbos spooling is the only audible difference I can hear over stock downpipes, then again I still have stock exhaust. I don't have any vibrations either from what I can tell.

but I also could hear the turbo or at least what I thought was a spooling sound when I had everything stock and just the COBB tune... Getting kinda worried something might be wrong by the way no one here has ever had the same experience... is there other noises that could mimic the spooling of a turbo on our cars? |

Depending on how sensitive your ears are, increased noise is normal. The exhaust will definitely be more raspy. If you don't have any vibrations, don't worry too much. You will hear the turbos spool up even at very low boost.

You can check for an exhaust leak by getting under the car carefully and listening around the DP to catback gaskets. You can also put your hand close to the gaskets and see if you feel any air. Be very careful as everything gets extremely hot. Exhaust leaks usually sound like hollow tapping or ticking, similar to the sound our injectors make after cold starts.
