Yes, people are pushing used and worn parts to the point where they don't function properly anymore and are having to replace them with new parts.
Your new car should contain almost entirely new parts. You should not have misfires out of the box. |

What are you worried about? Your car is brand new. Those parts won't be going bad anytime soon. These scare threads are from people with old cars who install a tune for the first time.

install it and see. The above posters gave sound advise and proper information, it's typically not the tune (any brand) that causes misfires, it's worn out parts. If you're still concerned, sell the unit and stay stock.

Usually these problems only occur when the JB4 is installed and you're running map 1 or higher. Seems most of the time when a misfire occurs you can switch back to map 0 and the misfire seemingly disappears. When running higher boost/fuel pressures the parts get put under more stress and you can tell which ones are actually starting to go bad.

My coupe went 32K+ without misfire tuned with JB4 before i got rid of it.. It never misfired on me..
My Sedan has been tuned since 2K miles if i remember correctly and im at about 22K now and never a hiccup or misfire.. Use good gas and maintain your car.. You wont have any worries for a while

Get an N55 charge pipe. Burger tuning makes one. Reccomended for added boost level
The plugs go at random but your new, so dont worrk about that ... under warranty its a $50 fix Be sure to rip out the JB before service...dont chance getting voided. |

the stock chagepipe is a plastic part to the right of the N55 engine, it passes the pressure through the engine from the turbos. Now this part has been know to leak during heavy backpressure and you are adding up to 20lbs of boost with a tune. Think stock od 8 or 10.
After market Charge pipes are highgrade aliminum.

I have personally be en running the JB4 since it came out. My E92 had 8K miles on it when I purchased it, instantly put my JB4 on, along with AR kittyless downpipes, STETT intake, STETT oil cooler, secondary cat delete (replaced them with vibrant resonators), and an ETS intercooler. Did all of it at once and still have NOT HAD ONE misfire issue or really anything else. I just take care of the car very well and I personally know my technician very well and my car is in tip top shape (knock on wood). Im also running a 20% E85 mix/93 octane for about 11 months now. Same mixture every time. I recently got my plugs changed (under warranty/Maintenance) and he said they look incredible for being tuned this long.. He was actually kind of shocked to be honest. As long as you take care of your car, and you let it warm up properly (oil temp being above 200 degrees IMPO) and drive your car how it should be driven and enjoy the hell out of it! All these mods actually help your car to be more efficient, perform better, and sound ten times more amazing. As long as you keep up with the JB4 firmware updates and put the correct AFR and CPS numbers that Terry posts on n54tech.com , your going to be fine. Trust me when I also say that Burger Motorsports has the most incredible customer service you can ever imagine. If you have any questions or concerns Terry responds within minutes sometimes lol so your not left in the dark about a tuner code that goes off or something dumb that you dont know about. I would not change a anything on my car but just make sure for dealer visits, just incase, take your JB4 out. You can put it on map 0 for normal services and everything should be ok but just to be on the safe side just take it out. After you do it a few times it takes about 15 minutes total. You will get the hang of it buddy dont worry!!

Too early for you to worry about that on such a new car.
I ran both JB3 and JB4 on my previous car from about 3k miles all the way to about 47k and never once did I have a problem. I'm not too far from you, if you need help installing that badboy let me know. |

With a brand new car there should be no worries but change your plugs every 15-20K and you should be fine. BMW recommends like, 50K for plug changes which is a reason some older cars have issues when running a tune as the plugs are very much past their "best before date"
