How Long Are Cars Staying at the Prep Center?

For those of you that have already been through this misery of waiting for your car to be delivered, roughly how long did your car stay at the Prep Center before being shipped to your dealer?

BTW, my car is in the middle of the Atlantic right now.

A few days. Ask your fellow members in San Antonio how long it took them to get their cars from the time the ship reached port, and you'll get a good idea of how long it will take. There's a forum for new car delivery questions here.

FWIW, in the DC area, the quickest I've seen from arrival in NJ to at my dealer is 4 days. The longest I've seen is 10 days. For San Antonio, my guess for average delivery time is about 1 week from the day your ship arrives in port. But I'm just guessing -- ask your fellow Texans.

It all depends on how busy they are. It has to go from the ship to the prep center, get prepped, then await transport to your dealer. Could be a day could be a week. Usually it should be a couple of days.

My car took a week to arrive at the dealer and my dealer is only 30 miles from VPC...

My car arrived at NJ on 5/31, didn't get to the VPC until 6/12, and I'm still waiting (as of 6/20) for redelivery. There appears to be bumper damage, so the are fixing it. I hope to get it by Friday, 6/29.

The real problem is about half the cars show up with exploded sunroofs. Then, as they roll the cars off the ships, a huge number of the 335i's go into limp mode, which slows down all of the cars in line behind them. A number of the cars get punctured tires from driving over all the exploded sunroof glass, and the replacement RFTs are on 30-day backorder.

All told, it takes about 8 weeks from the time the ship arrives in port.

I haven't heard of too many people with Priority 1 cars waiting 8 weeks. More the exception than the rule.

Ya was thinking about driving it to Vegas the same day... But not sure if that would be ok for the car.... Any way to drive that distance without being a bad way to break it in. Or should I just leave it at home.

. That was the funniest thing I've read on the forums yet.

The car is meant to be driven. Just vary your speed and RPM's.

My suggestion in this issue...go the top category and start a thread entitled "How do I break my car in???"

Though it depends on the many factors that people have already mentioned, here is my story...

Ship docked this past Sunday night (6/17) and my car was discharged. Car arrived at Prep Center on Tuesdayish. Car arrived at Dealer on Thursdayish (today). I pick up tomorrow (Friday). I also live in PA and the ship docked in NY. Not too far of a drive. Plus, my car probably had minimal to no damage. I hope the next 24 hours go by quickly!

Wow you're one of the lucky ones.

My car arrived at the port on May 31. Got to VPC on June 12.
Apparently there is damage, and the estimate for fix was June 21. Now they are saying at least June 25 because they don't have the part....
