Driver Door Lock Problem

Hey guys, today after grocery shopping with the wife, I opened the passenger door for her first, and then went over to my side.

I have CA, so when I went to open my door, I guess my hand brushed against the top of the lock, so it locked at the same time as I pulled the door open, so the lock made some funny noises, but it still opened. Now when I drove off, the auto lock came on, but the sound of my door lock was louder, so I tried opening it with the central button, but it wouldn't come up. Now I'm stuck with opening it via the door handle inside, and using the key on the outside.

What happened has happened a few times before, but never resulted in a broken lock.

Anybody else have this happen to you?

Think I'll head to the dealer tomorrow morning at 7.

Whoa, sounds intense calvino.

I hope they can figure it out tomorrow morning, and if it needs staying hopefully they'll supply me with a loaner.

Definitely need to wake up extra early tomorrow, haha.

Good luck my car was almost 2 weeks in service, at first they could not figure out what was wrong they car did not show any errors.

they first change the locks, reprogram the ECU, etc... they ended up changing the ECU and reprogramming the key fobs.

ohhh and the worst thing my dealer give me a Focus as a loaner

they hate me they give everyone X3,325i Muranos etc...
and I allways get crappy cars like Focus and PT cruisers

Thanks for the heads up, I hope it's nothing that serious that they would give me a Focus, haha.

So, I just returned from the dealer. They said that there are no available timeslots for their 10 techs to look at my car until the end of July.

Luckily, I had previously set up an appointment set for July 11th, so they added the driver door lock problem for that day.

Another thing that sucks is that I will have to find a car for myself, since all their loaners are out until the end of July as well.

Sigh, what bad luck!

Similar thing (unlocking while passenger pulls on door) happened to the '03 X5 (not CA) multiple times before it finally 'broke", took it to the dealer this morning...

At least they let you in! Haha.

I got owned by the service department, I really don't know why Calgary is so backed up for everything BMW. I guess the sudden surge in population along with more rich people has resulted in such a mess.

ahhh... I booked this appointment last week (8 calendar days ago).

But you are right, the demand for luxury vehicles in Calgary may outpace the supply of service departments until they start expanding.
