Not a fan of blackline so I'd say smoke them. Should've made a poll.

I love the blackline - I don't understand the issue with these and why they aren't standard in the US. Like with my 2003 E39 525i - it had that white look on top and amber bulbs for the turn signals. Must be a DOT regulation change or something odd. The standard tails are way too red in my opinion. These look both more elegant and expensive to my eye.

For the same reason that the OEM spoiler could have actually been created as part of the
trunk when the car was designed.....

SO BMW COULD MAKE MORE MONEY!!

My bad~ It's not 189~ ... Pacific Bmw has them for 225. I think? around there... but yeah... I'm thinking more of smoking them. My friend has a hook up for 30$ So i'll go with that. BTW what tightie did was tinting them. I believe he put a film in that. What I'm doing is a special spray for housing them. With those 30$ Im getting 2 layer of tints and clear coat on top. And I'm going to smoke the whole tail light. Not just the red part.

I used to play those games in the 80's with my cars. I was a kid I guess (now an old ass 36). I believe in OEM for the car unless it relates to suspension/wheels or mild drivetrain upgrades (removal of CDV and short shift kit on a stick). Otherwise this painting nonsense just isn't for me. I like to keep a car as authentic as possible - then again I'm pushing 40

Make the standard taillight smoked first and if you don't like it, then you just order the blackline.....It's cheaper.....

I like Blackline, but it is more nice on white/silver cars.

I would not do either of them on Blue car (will look cheap IMHO), but if you feel like go for change, I would say tinted will be better on Blue, then blackline.

I will admit I do like the black line (Euro) taillights.

But E24 makes a good point many people in this thread don't realize. A stock car is more sought after and will go for more money at resale. Most dealerships will take off aftermarket parts in order to move the car faster & for more.

http://www.bankrate.com/brm/news/aut...ions-best1.asp
This article discusses safe options and not going overboard on customizations. It quotes sources from NADA, Edmunds, JD Power, Kelly Blue Book, Manheim Auctions and Consumer Reports.

"Vehicles that are painted in odd colors and vehicles that have been
overly personalized will be desired by a smaller group of people down the road. That will negatively affect their resale value." says Jack R. Nerad, editorial director and executive market analyst for Kelley Blue Book.

I don’t think taillights are too much, but if you care about resale be sure to realize when to draw the line.

It's true that you can sell for more if the car is stock. just buy the blackline and if you don't like the look... sell it to other members!!! you'll lose the most $50... if you tint(spray) your stock and want to return back to stock someday... you will have to buy a new one.

I personally think the blackline look very sexy on our cars.... it's pretty cheap too for OEM BMW parts.
