"Service Engine Soon" then a couple days later Half Yellow Engine Light.
This is probably just another fuel pump crapping out, but I got a service engine light the other day, turned the car off and back on and it was still there. Then I left it overnight and the next day it was gone. Now last night (in front of a party nonetheless) I start er up and get the half yellow engine light and it is idling about as rough as an early 80's MB diesel. Turned it off, sat there for a couple of minutes and it went away. Made the long drive home and it felt just fine. I think this is the beginning of a long angry relationship with the service department at BMW Bellevue over the fuel pump. The other problem is that they said they won't have any loaners for like a month, come on you are a car dealership and you can't provide me with a car while the one I just bought is broken. Any advice or reccommendations would be greatly appreciated.

You are not the only one with this problem. Its most likely the fuel pump. Don't take it out on your service department, its not their fault. If they cannot provide you with a loaner, they usually help you out with a rental car. (thats what we do). It may not be a BMW but its a set of wheels.
The quicker you take the car in, the sooner you get on the list for a fuel pump. |

Thanks, I thought that was what it sounded like. I will defintely ask about the rentals then, maybe they would be willing to do something for me. I was so excited for a road trip in it this month, but looks like I may just have to fly, or rack up the miles on some rental.

Gawd damn! Coming home today the half engine light came on and the car went into limp mode. Frantically trying to get in touch with the dealer right now.

Odd, just removed the PROcede, changed around the ground wire and put all back to stock. Started up the car and the half engine light was gone. Only the SES light was still on. Should I still take it to the dealer tomorrow?

Yeah, I was still hitting 13+lbs but didnt feel like I was going anywhere. Then once the yellow engine light came on, no boost whatsoever.

I got my car back after 2 weeks and the SA told me it was failed O2 sensors that set off the code. But that shouldn't cause the car to start up in limp home mode. I also got a computer update that was supposed to fix some problems. Now my randomly idles like crap.
