Cracked windshield - Rt 80 - Opinions on options?
Good evening gang,
I had a rock nail my windshield today, causing a 12 inch crack. Looks like Ill have to replace it, and I was wondering if anyone here had thoughts on where/pricing on a replacement. My deductible is $500 and safelight quoted me for about $600, thus filing a claim probably useless. Nonetheless, I was wondering what y'all think on where to go and other pricing options. Thanks. |

damnnnnn $500 deductible for glass? Lower that shit. It's like an extra $6/mo for full glass coverage

Even with low deductible, is it worth going through insurance? Won't they jack up your premium the following year over a $600 claim?

I thought full glass coverage entailed only on the spot resin repairs, not actual replacements? I could be wrong...

Don't do it the insurance will give you only 100 and your insurance will see how many claims you have than your rates can go up. I can tell you this bacause i work for Insurance

I got an oem windshield recently under my ins policy. I had paid an extra $36 or so to l lower my glass deductible from the comp policy's $500 to a measly $50. Call and lower it then put the claim in next week
I ended up needing to change insurance companies right after my claim (moved recently) and the agent for my new policy said the claim would never be a factor in my rate as the new state is a free auto glass state. I would lower your deductible, then ask about the potential impact at renewal, and then file the claim. Oh the insurance company I filed the glass claim with only agreed to oem glass because my car was brand new (under 6000 miles) or some similar low number. That said, I've had ppg glass that seemed more durable than oem... Best of luck |
