Is this going to work?

I have never bought a set of rims and tires together for a car before. I was considering this auction on ebay: http://www.ebay.com/itm/280856890928...witem=&vxp=mtr. If I went with these rims would tires sized 215/40/18 front and 245/35/18 rear be acceptable tires to fit to these rims and not mess up my speedometer. My current wheels are 205/55/16. As an aside, what about the TPMS. Can I use the sensors from the old tires? Will there be a constant annoying alarm every time I turn the car on and off. I am so confused with all this...

TPMS, you'll have to transfer over from your stock wheels.

Why not get them from a site sponsor that knows what they are doing?

+1 - I would definitely think twice before purchasing wheels on ebay. I can tell you personally that we reject a good percentage of the wheels that do come into our warehouse during our quality control process. These wheels are typically the wheels that you'll find on ebay for cheap and is what's considered as B or C stock wheels with blems on them.

Often times companies will sell B/C stock off to certain companies to dump on eBay. A ‘B stock’ item is termed so, cause is basically one that has some blemishes in it - so it hasn’t passed QC for main retail sales. This includes like spots on the paint, maybe some fading etc. They are honestly not that bad but its not something we sell to our customers (we sell ‘A stock’) However if special requested we can sometimes sell a B stock item - I want to add that those wheels are in no way dangerous they are still within spec, we are talking about blems. ‘C Stock’ is a more severe form of the B Stock item - so there could be clear coat issues , blems to a more severe degree etc.

With that being said, there are many different manufactures of the M6 style wheels and not all of them are equal in terms of quality. Wheel fitment will vary depending on the manufacture as many of them do make the wheels in different sizes and offsets. You'll be safe so long as you are within the following specs:

18x8.5 ET30-35 - 225/40/18 or 235/40/18
18x9.5 ET30-40 - 255/35/18 or 265/35/18

Those are conservative offsets and 215/245 are unnecessarily small. Those reps look like shit though. Get OEM M6 wheels.

Do they also have to change how the sensors sense things? As in these new tires wont necessarily run at the same pressure as the old ones.
