U.S 328 2007 to Europe

Are there anyone who knows if the U.S 328i, 2007, 3.0l 230Hkr is type registred and possible to import to EU?

I own the car and I am currently living in the U.S. I may move back to Europe in a few years and wants to know if I can bring my car home or not?

You should check with your embassy first on requirements...they should be able to tell you in details.

As for the car, I expect some minor changes like lightings etc to comply with your country's specific requirements

possible but it can be not so convenient.

the import taxes and the freight charges will be much expensives.

than you'll must modify your car to respect the european's law.

better sel it and buy another in europe, the 328i is not sold here, there is 325 i or 330i, think that in some nations 80% of 3er sold are diesel

When moving to Europe all goods including the car which you own 6 months or more are duty and tax free. If you buy a new car and take the European delivery, then you have to pay duty and sales tax. It is still considerably cheaper than buying the car in Germany. I checked with a local dealer and the 330 is virtually identical to the 328. The required modifications are minor. Front parking lights must be white and you have to add rear red fog light. The only problem is the warranty. If you bring the car from US you lose the warranty. When you buy the car in Europe the warranty is only 2 years. How is it with European delivery I am not sure.

Also be aware that your warranty in Germany is only for two years, not four. You have to purchase and extended warranty. Same with the free maintenance in case you're wondering.

Wow, this is all shocking.....damn I guess we have it pretty damn good here in the states. But I guess if I was a car manufacturer back home, I don't think I would give a warranty for more then a year with the roads we had, lol.

So that means i have lost my warranty that really sucks !! I just got transfered to Holland. I wonder how much the extended warranty cost over here. One of the reason I bought the bimmer was that great warranty.

I don’t think you lost your warranty, BMW warranty is worldwide. Ask a dealer in Holland how it works in Europe with US warranty.

In the case of the Netherlands, when you register the car to get the local plates, you will be required to pay the 'BPM' tax, which as of the 1st of February is 42,3% of the estimated value of the car!
