What shipping company handles SA -> USA deliveries?

Since I can't get into the My BMW site for some reason ( ), does anyone know what company handles the South Africa to USA deliveries?

I'm trying to at least see when my car gets on a ship since I can't track it where I'm supposed to be able to track it.

BTW ->>> When my car was sold to me Saturday, my car had been sitting at the Port of Exit in status 193 since 3/28 it looks like.

I didn't know you could custom order an SA build. IIRC, when I ordered my E90 5 years ago, my SA told me that all ordered car will be built in Germany and cars built in SA are random builds that are allotted to dealers.

I bought a dealer build that just wasn't in yet

Happened to be my "custom" build...

BMW Website & SA Shipping

The website was down until 23 April 12. I actually called some friends at BMW NA to track it down. Soon after that, the user's site was back up.

I ordered a 335i on 13 March. The customer service rep at the 800 number had no idea where my car was 2 months later. The dealer (who has always been great) told me when it would arrive but didn't know the ship.

Anyone know how to track and trace the shipping vessels from SA to Florida? I did read that all traffic went through Bremerhaven, but that doesn't answer the SA route portion!

We too have had a 335i that finished production as of the middle of April, and is at the port in South Africa. I did some research, and there is a ship called the Grand Orion that leaves on or about May 21 from the port of Durban, heads up to Europe making several stops, goes to a stop in Canada, and then to Brunswick (Georgia?). Perhaps east coast cars will be offloaded there.

We are in So Cal, and that same ship then goes through the canal and over to Port Hueneme, but doesn't get in until the middle of July. At that point, we should be able to put in an order for a 2013, so we decided to cancel the 2012 order and do that.

We ordered the car in February, so five months from order to delivery seems a bit excessive to us. Also, the 2013 seems to have some differences that are preferable to us.

Hi, I also ordered my 335i with a South African build on March 15th and was told it would not arrive for pick up until June. For two weeks the BMW web tracking site says that it is waiting at the port. Looks like it is going to be the end of June at the best unless the website is not correct.

My last car which shipped from Germany only took 8 weeks from order to pick-up, so this is taking quite a bit longer.

Mine was already produced by the time that I ordered it (incoming dealer stock) at the end of March

Tomorrow is my pickup date.

It has been almost 8 weeks, let me break down the time frame from production until now.

Transfer from Plant to Port: 2-3 days
Sitting at Port waiting for boat: 7 days
On boat headed towards Baltimore: 35 days
Sitting in Baltimore: 5 days
Ship from Baltimore to Lincoln: 4 days
PDI / dealer setup: 1 day

If I would have known it was going to take this long, I would have canceled my dealer stock order and got coral red leather instead of Black Leatherette.

SA deliveries SUCK!

Damn 35 days on the boat really sucks. Mine is currently sitting at the port now. Even if it leaves today that puts my wait over 12 weeks from the time of order.

This wait seriously is getting ridiculous. I ordered mine April 6 and my CA is telling me it'll arrive at the dealership around JULY 16-26. So frustrating, especially when he told me 6-8 weeks when I ordered. Now there's the 2013 model, -_-

Yep. I bought dealer stock so it was all the way through production before the 8 weeks started!

Thanks
