335i stock 0-60 6mt

Have any of you timed your 0-60 with a gtech, etc? I have consistently gotten 5.1 with my escort gt1 timer..Im a little dissapointed that I can't break 5 seconds..just seeing what everyone else has been getting.

Drive up to jacksonville and I'll see if I can get there.

I won't be getting mine until Sept.

Some previous posts indicate that some of the reason why times may not be optimal is the too much time is lost in shifting the manual trans due to poor or slow technique. You didn't mention which trans you had. If you are really disappointed and want to do better, buy a Turbo Tuner, Procede or Xede. Or just wait for the ECU flash software upgrade that is expected from BMW.

You gotta get Procede. The best time I got stock was 4.85 with steptronic. I think the problem with the 6MT is the clutch delay valve (CDV). There is a DIY for the CDV removal. With Procede you can expect times in the 4.4-4.5 range.

People are getting below 5.0 stock with the steptronics. I saw a thread on bimmerfest.com where some 0-60 times were taken from a 335xi steptronic. It made it to 60 in 4.8 seconds.

I know i couldn't do that with a manual...i'm not that ninja with the shifting.

0-60 should be just one shift in the 6MT (1st to 2nd), so you shouldn't be "losing" too much time in that one shift.

I've only timed my 6MT 3 times, once with DSC/DTC on, once with DSC/DTC off and about a 2,500 RPM launch and once with DSC/DTC off but no launch. With everything on, I only managed a 5.8s. On the launch, I hit 5.6s, but the tires had zero traction in 1st. On the non-launch, I managed a 5.3s time. These were all with stock Potenza RFTs and temps in the mid to upper 50's.

I'm still learning the best launch technique for my car, and I think I need to ditch that damn CDV. I thought I felt the clutch slipping in the 1-2 shift during all of those runs. I also need to determine the best RPM shift point. Banging off the rev-limiter is somewhat pointless, since the HP starts dropping at 6,000. I think finding the right launch RPM, shifting around 6,000 and ditching the stock RFTs will really help the times.

A few more miles on the ticker and some more launches, and I bet I can get it down to around 5.0s stock. Some better rubber, CDV-delete and a PROcede should yield low to mid 4's I would think....:rocks:

Automatic transmissions have come a long way. That's for sure!

Especially the really nice ones like SMG and DSG.

I have a manual myself because I enjoy the driving experience more, but I don't doubt that I would be beat by many a auto driver at the drag strip.

I guess that's the breaks!

Never tested when stock, but close to Blk07335i's time, my Beltronics Vector recorded this for my PROcede 335i during a 1/4 mi. run; btw -- my car is also a 6AT with Paddle Shifters.

You gotta try harder, I`ve managed 5.9 in my 325d and that requires a shift from 2nd to 3rd at about 50ish.

That must be re-mapped, as thats quicker than a 335D!!

Quicker than a timed 335d or quicker than published figures ? I`m not sure what the stock figures are for a 335d, I know Nick is seeing well under 5 secs in his mapped 335d. Yes mine is mapped.

Your +1 on the wheels could be the culprit. Lighter helps but doesnt counteract rotational circumferance. The bigger the tire, the higher the MPH, the smaller the tire, the quicker the time. If you put your stock 18s back on I bet you would hit the mark youre looking for.

The circumference should be the same -- with 19" wheels you go down in the profile ratio from F/R 40/35 to 35/30. But it is difficult to lose weight going up to 19", especially with reps. I am getting much better acceleration with the Pirelli P-0s than I did with the OEM rfts. CDV helps a tiny bit, depending on how the clutch feels that morning...

stressdoc, youre right, they are almost same circumference..according to the specs, they are lighter, but who knows. There is a split second lag in power from 1st to second though..its pretty noticeable, not sure if thats cdv or not
