Need Help Shadowline Trim

Looking for a place that will apply the shadow line trim vinyl to my car. I can't trust myself to do it. Anywhere on Long Island. Thanks

Not sure what the pricing is, but this is the deal. After wrapping, you will most likely have to do a new application every year or two by the very curvy piece of the trim towards the rear windows as the vinyl doesn't adhere too well. Once you factor reapplication with your time spent, extra set of materials, etc., it's extremely close to break even. If you paint it, you're done one time, no hassles, etc. Also looks better from up close. PM one of the Martino's guys.

I disagree. if done right with good materials wrap will last several years. For instance, scotchprint vinyl from 3M is rated for 7-10 years for external applications. Also, if you paint it it is very possible to get chips in the paint (particularly near the trim on the front doors from rocks etc.) and then you will see chrome sticking through it and it will stick out like a sore thumb. While this could happen with wrap too, it is easier and less expensive to address. I admit wrapping it is time-consuming, but if you pay someone it's a moot point and it HAS to be cheaper than painting although I've never priced this out. I've shown the matte black vinyl to people on my car and they'd swear it's painted. Again, if done right you should be able to tell the difference.

currently getting black trim put on the car @ MAC after 6 years of owning 3 series with wrapped window trim

To each his own I guess, but after seeing that rear window edge peeling, and having it happen again in one spot, is just a PITA. It might come out 60 bucks cheaper, maybe 80, but for that price I rather get it done once, and just get it over with.

Yeah, I mean either method, if done right with high quality materials, should be fine.

This is what I've heard and actually led me to wrap instead of paint. Multiple collision shops have also said that they can paint the trim, but cannot guarantee that it won't chip in the future.

yeah I had painted the OEM kidney grilles on my previous car (328) and they chipped and looked terrible after a while.

Duno why this turned into a debate of whether he should paint or wrap. He wants to wrap his trim. Hit up Matt at phenomenal vinyl. His price to wrap with high quality stuff is going to be ~200 or maybe less

MAC wants 500 to paint trim as an fyi.

If the OP has the vinyl already, just hit up matt. he is located in lindenhurst.

well I think people were just trying to inform the OP of another option. then we weighed in on the pros and cons.

yeah I understand MAC to be very high quality, but at that price just buy the shadowline trim for $800 and be done with it!

i agree with you, which is why i did not go that route. i mean, i wanted to enhance the look of my car and not pay out the buttocks. To me thats a frivolous expense.
