Cobb vs jb4 worth £300 difference

Hi I really like the idea of Cobb as I can easily remove it before go to the stealers. But is it worth an extra £300?

As I could use that money towards some down pipes.

Your thoughts welcome

Probably not worth the price for that function, but hey I don't need to dismantle half the engine bay to get to the ecu.but I do need it as I have warranty and do require to removenit all the time. If you dont have warranty n u can keep the tune in car then why not a jb4?

Have you considered Evolve? You can also remove that before you go to the stealers and it is a much simpler tuning process as far as I can tell

I've only had the JB4 so can't really comment on the Cobb AP. It has worked really well for me and proven to produce good figures. I made 410bhp and 480lbft when it was dyno'd in the summer.

If you're going for downpipes, is removing the map for the dealers rendered pointless? Mine went in for work with the JB4 on map 0 and they didn't say a thing.

However, I am really impressed with the Cobb AP and with the mods I have being fitted as we speak, I would have went for that if it was available when I was choosing.

Outside of the power figures the JB4 has a number of other great features like steering wheel controls and gauge hijacking which are great and I would miss. Not to mention bespoke tuning on the fly, meth integration, blah blah...

Its not difficult to install and as stated above no more visible to the dealer unless they poke their head into the ECU compartment...

Cobb is getting some mixed reviews in the US with many switching back to JB4. Some of the UK guys running it have also had teething troubles (JamJay?)..

Me too, gonna put some miles on the clutch and turbos then fit the meth

Forgot to mention the CAN based features with the gauge hacking, shift lights and on the fly commands which all are in the JB4s favour. Meth integration is the main reason why I'm sticking with the JB4.

Thanks for the input, I am starting to think the JB4 has the edge... with some contribution towards down pipes and quad tips lol.

A lone voice for Cobb's accessport here - I've had no issues at all with it and the power is great. If meth isn't a concern, and quick and non-engine bay uninstallation is a important feature it's hard to look past.

Yes 100% agree but £300 that's new quod pipes paid for and installed. This is below the wife's radar - as I not telling her lol

Your not alone. I have the cobb install but the op question was if its worth the difference in price.

For me it was, since I don't want to play around with the ecu loom and unbolting lots of bolts and parts before I get to access it. It was also great on switching maps just plug in and change and remove and I'm done but I only keave it thr most powerful map. I lovr the fact I can read fault code from the unit itself and other functions.

I do have warranty so being able to remove any traces is a must for me so that is why I bouggt mine because I cann remove it instantly. So tgar justifiled that he proce for me

Another thumbs up for COBB. I've had no issues with this on the car, other than traction , my only problems were with firmware updates which have been rectified. If you ask me, I agree with Yoro 100% and the data logging functions, boost gauge etc are fantastic!

That post looks to be quite old and the new cobb maps seem to be on par with JB4 power figures with better timing control.

In fact I'm going to be running both the cobb and JB4 very soon.......

Just part of the story...JB4 runs less boost at comparable power levels as general rule meaning less stress on the turbos.

Been reading and reading forums, and the JB4 provides great features - but I believe the installation process a bit beyond me! not that confident.

Since evolve can be purchased in the UK, how does this compare to COBB system?

Install process is not hard and if your stuck take a few pictures and we will get you on the road.

Once you've done it you can install and uninstall in 20mins

Darren Wood in stockport is our master installer for JB4 DP's etc if you want them to fit it.

Hi,

Looking at Dynos Iam I correct that the JB4 provides more Torque than Procede and COBB.

As I looking more Torque gains rather than HP.
