Help, my 2007 328i stalls
Hey guys, I tried searching but couldn't come up with anything.
Here's my problem. My wife's 07 328 stalled twice in the past week. its an automatic and here is what happened both times. 1st time, I was stopped at the lights. to restart, I had to pull the key out and restart. the 2nd time, my wife was driving and was slowing down at the lights. In order for her to restart, she also had to pull the key out and start again. When the car stalled on her, the steering wheel locked as she was trying to coast onto the side of the road. engine cuts out, power still stays on . (which is different than the other symptoms i was reading online) I tried replicating it, and couldn't. I also hooked up an OBDII scanner and it had no codes. has anyone had, or have heard of any similar issues? I'm pretty mechanically inclined, so I tried to replicate the problem today and couldn't. Drove it hard, drove it normal.. slammed on my brakes..etc. Thanks guys, ***EDIT**** I just asked my wife again, she was confused by what 'steering wheel lock' was. She said it was tough to turn which is normal since the engine is off, theres no power going to the power steering pump. my apologies. Last edited by Dr. Anthony; 02-18-2012 at 05:59 PM.. |

First....did you check to make sure the battery terminals are nice and tight..Secondly you mentioned you scanned it for fault codes ? What type of scan tool did you use..In my personal experience generic fault scan are all that good as a manufacturer specific scan tool in terms of being able to see at the faults stored in the DME.

I haven't checked the battery terminals, i'll do that in 2 minutes as soon as i'm done posting as far as codes go, I used a normal OBDII scanner. you're right tho, it may not be able to check it. I'm actually trying to install all the software on my laptop to use my K+Dcan cable (coding cable) and trying to find a program that will just read codes. |

steering wheel locked while in gear??? i would let bmw know about that.
if bmw doesnt listen and act, call transport canada. having a steering wheel lock while rolling is a MAJOR safety issue. |
