Brand new 328i feels unstable at 80mph...?
Perfectly paved road, no wind
Car does not have sports package... at 80mph it feels very light and floaty, wants to wonder off, and at 130 its the same thing My 2004 M3 feels better at 170 then the 328 at 80, our old Jeep Grand Cherokee feels better at 130 then the 328i at 80mph... I am assuming the alignment is fine from the factory, tire pressures are fine... I would go crazy driving this car on a road trip... |

That's definately weird--mine feels very good at high speeds, and has since day one. I would get it checked out.

It's the run flat tires.
When I replaced mine with standard Pirelli P-Zero Nero's all of those unstable feelings disappeared. It's like a new car and rides like my 740 and 528. Larry |

I would get it checked out. I don't think it's the runflats cuz I have runflats on my 335 and I was doin 100 mph on the highway and no one in the car could even tell. They thought I was doin 65

Thats not the same thing as what the OP was talking about. My car feels exremely smooth and speed deceptive too. However, I also get the floatiness sometimes at high speed. The runflats just like to wander and will tramline at every chance they get. I found optimal PSI to be 35f/38r. Try it and see if you notice a difference.

is the car very new? reason I ask is because from what I have read on this forum, BMW overinflates the tires during transfer, so as to prevent flat spots while sitting on the ship, in lots, etc.
When I bought my car, it had 45psi all the way around, so I can only assume the dealership never reduced the pressure to the proper settings. I immediately dropped the tire pressure and noticed a difference in ride/handling, of course. I have no idea if a symptom of over-inflation is what you commented on, but I thought I would pass this along (given a few folks mentioned tire pressure here). Several other folks on the forum have commented on the abnormally high tire pressure when they bought the car, so it sounds like my situation wasn't that unique. |

My 335i was always feeling good and stable...When I hit around 1k miles I hit 130 with my stock runflats and wheels and it felt great....this past saturday I hit 140 with my new 20inch wheels with the Pirelli Zeros and it felt great as well untill I hit a little dip in the highway is when I felt like I was a bit unstable but thats normal. Get it checked out. Mike.

New tires require some break in also
They are not as sticky as after you put a few miles on them |

Could be that I'm used to the EXTREMELY bumpy ride in my E46 (Bilstein PSS9s with Volks).
