Steering wheel not centered?
Just picked up a new (used) e93, just noticed today that when I hold the steering wheel perfectly straight and centered and drive straight, the car pulls to the right. To drive straight I need to turn the wheel a few degrees to the right inorder for the car to moves straight.
If i drive straight and let go of the wheel, the car moves straight but then again the wheel automatically turns the few degrees to the right by itself. I am assuming because I let go of the wheel and the car drives perfectly straight that its not an alignment issue? Does my steering wheel need to be adjusted so when I put my wheel straight it goes straight? thanks! |

Your steering wheel can't be adjusted, it has a spline collar with a notch that is manufactured to make sure steering wheels can only be installed one way, the right way. Even with the way you described it, my guess would still be something to do with wheel alignment.

When i hit a curb and bent my rear control arm, im wanting to say it would go straight when i let go but it would be off by probably 3 or 4 degrees. which is quite a bit. Hopefully that's not the problem though for you

You said that when you hold your wheel straight, the car pulls to the right. Yet at the same time you are saying that in order to make the car drive straight you need to turn the wheel to the right. That just doesn't make any sense. One of your "rights" should really be "left". Which one? |

hmm did you ever end up fixing the problem? did an alignment fix it or did you have to replace your rear control arm?

replaced control arm but definitely get it alligned first as the control arm is an expensive part especially installation

Yeah, an alignment with the Steering wheel centered is in order to fix that. Simple job and good to have done once in awhile anyways.

When's the last time you checked your tire pressure? Having one wheel off by a few PSI could cause a car to pull. If that doesn't work, get an alignment. If you are having to turn your steering wheel now, you will still have to turn your steering wheel even if you center it.
