What is a FZD control module and where is it located
Had an airbag warning light go off. Dealer diagnosed it as a faulty FZD control module and replaced it. Steering wheel now seems off-center and I'm wondering if replacing the FZD required removing the wheel.
Thanks. |

Airbags and many other devices now are controlled by the nearest module. There is no central Airbag module. Since now all the modules communicate over the CAN bus, they can appropriate inputs/outputs from nearby boxes to control devices. The FZD can control side head airbags, for instance. E60 5ers have left and right B-pillar modules (funky German abbreviation) that control seat and seat belt functions for each side.
