6FL limitations

Anyone use 320kbps MP3 files with the 6FL option? The manual seems to say it doesn't support that high of a bitrate, but I'm curious if it actually works.

Also, has anyone tried using a USB bus-powered hard drive with the 6FL? Like this WD Passport?

There's a manual? What about .wav files in your iPod?

I use 320kb/s almost exclusively. They work just fine.

I tried my WD Passport once, and it didn't work. It said the drive was empty. Maybe I'll try it again to be sure.

Good to know about the 320kbps files. My entire collection is 320.

Any other bus powered hard drives work? Or is it pretty much limited to solid state flash memory devices?

Tried it again - definitely doesn't work. The light comes on and the drive spins, but it is reported as 'empty'.

DAC

Isn't the Digital to Audio conversion done by the iPOD?? I think the 6FL / USB adaptor just takes in analog audio and uses the USB for meta-data.

I'm not planning on using an ipod. I'd rather use a standard USB mass storage device.
