My car is so fat :(

I was doing some vinyl work for a member on here and we were talking about how heavy the car was. I thought my car was around 3700 pounds, but then I looked at his door panel it said 4000+!!!! I was like wait a minute. There's no way my car is most 500 pounds lighter than yours.

Mine weighs about 4200 pounds too.
No wonder the 3200 pound e36 M3 I've been driving is so much faster.

I'm just sad my car is slower than my mother's supercharged 6000 pound Range Rover...that's just not right. And that it's so damn heavy.

I know cool story right.

Lol sorry I ruined your night man! I didn't realize it was that much either. Then when I was telling my friend about it who is a rx8 enthusiast and he told me his car was 3,000 lbs. I went home and cried.

Haha it's all good. It's still fun to drive. But if I ever track the car, it's going on a serious diet.

Looking to save up for a beater I can just gut and beat the crap out of at the track. If I wreck it, I'll just leave it there.

The listed weights on the door frame placards are usually the max allowable gross weight, not empty weight. The 330xi should be in the 3,600 pound range.

Curb weight for a Stepronic '07 328ix sedan is 3627 with the GVW listed at 4685.

It's hard to believe that your '06 330ix weighs 500 lbs. more than the '07!

Yeah, of all the cars I've owned over the years the E36M3 was my favorite. I know I'm becoming an old fart because I remember when it came out people com[lained about how much it weighed and when the E46 came out, holy cow did people complain about how much IT wieghed!

It's crazy how much weight all wheel drive and automatics add. Mine weighs under 3300 LBS

According to the BMW website, my 328iT 2wd manual weighs 3527 lbs (unladen). The 328xi sedan slushie is 3649 which isn't much of a difference. My guess is the weight BMW quotes on the sticker is with a full tank of gas and passengers.

Gotcha. Yea I always though my car was 3700lbs. I add 100 for my trunk sub setup :/

That makes sense. I guess gas (~80-100lbs), luggage, and 5 passengers can easily get up to 1000. :/

Yea it sucks....my car is so heavy

I would have put a smilely instead of a frown lol. And heck no!! No wide body for me! I already have a concrete slab as a car.

Where did you get the 4200 figure from?

It is not the first time we see posters on this forum mistake the GVWR value with the actual weight of the vehicle itself. You do understand the difference, don't you?
