Thumbs down Hit pothole.. Pics included

Hey guys...

Pretty sad here, hit a huge pot hole today, did some bad damage to the car, not all that bad but pretty bad in my opinion, since it's my baby

How much would you guys think it will cost to fix?

I didn't have other pics but damage near fog light is also there, and as well as a crack near by.. It was a huge pothole, sadly it was inevitable.

I filed a claim with my insurance, cause I think they cover the damage, but my deductible is pretty high, but we'll see.

Take a look and tell me if it's worth continuing the claim with the insurance or pay out of pocket! i was getting the Eurocharged tune also this friday! :'(

Also the back bumper came loose also, when I hit the bump and as well as the left tires TPMS light came on, I filled it with air when I got home, still same thing. The light doesn't want to go off, I think the sensor is messed up more than likely. I checked tire, resetted light, waited it off and turned back on etc..etc.. still same light showing, and all tires are same pressure.

Can't you take pics of the pothole and file a complaint to the state or DOT? They are supposed to be maintaining roads and making sure its safe to travel in. What if it caused you to lose control and get into an accident? I would think that they would pay for it.

Agreed with TMO, where is ur tax payer money going to.... you should write a letter and request some of your money back to pay for the repairs lol. That must have been on hell of a pot hole. I am lucky they just repaved 15 miles of road and it just so happens to be its the 15 miles i drive to work.

Check your automatic headlight leveling. Trauma like the above usually causes the leveling mechanism to detach. That is ~$1100 to fix. Not sure what your deductible is, but the possible damage to your light and wheel might make it worth using insurance.

Crap. Glad you are ok!
Reminds me of a pothole I encountered in Philly...lucky I was only parking, but I was honestly scared it could swallow up the WHOLE car! Can't imagine what you hit at speed.

To the OP, did you try to reset the TPMS? If memory serves me right, resetting it may do the trick for you.

Must have been a hell of a pothole. File a claim with your local city and county. You pay tax dollars to have roads repaired and they are required to pay for the damages.

I feel no remorse for you OP, i live in NYC and we don't have roads. we have war zones. potholes left and right. my bumper looks just like yours, its on the bottom, you can barely see it. i wouldn't worry.

Dude, I thought CA potholes were bad. It looks like you hit a ditch in the middle of the road. Especially considering that it messed up your rear bumper as well. I would suggest contacting the city dept that services that road as they maybe liable. In CA at least, if your car is damaged by a city road that is serviced by Caltrans, you can make a claim against them as long as someone else previously reported the pothole and they didn't repair the pothole and your car was subsequtnely damaged because they failed to repair the reported pothole. Good luck.

sorry for that op ... couple of months ago i hit a hole that was similar to this one and since then my left front wheel's pressure kept going down even i added air 2 times a day, and then i discovered there was a cracked point inside of my rim that caused the air lose, so there might be something wrong with your rim ,you may wanna keep that in mind
