Hi All,

Sorry to bring up this old boring topic, but I took my 06 330 in a month ago to have V25 uploaded (used the arrow pop up excuse), and they uploaded V25.00.01, which disabled the voice commands. As an aside, I TOLD them this would happen, but they didn't believe me, said they would take care of me, and, well......

So I have now waited a month with the hope that they would finally receive the most recent version, but as of today, they said they only have V25.00.02. Actually, they call it "V25.02", they don't even know the proper name.

Anyway, they said this .02 version will fix the voice commands, and they offered to set an appointment.

However, as all of us who have been monitoring this know, BMW has already released a V25.00.04, and even more recently, a V25.01.01.

So my question is: do you know what changes occurred between V25.00.02 and V25.00.04, and then V25.01.01? I am trying to decide if I keep waiting for my dealer to finally receive a more current version, or just take it in now, get V25.00.02 and be done with it.

I believe there were some issues with RTTI in the .02 version, but given I have an 06 model, that's not applicable.

You are looking for what they call a Service Information Bulletin or SIB. For the progman updates the SIBs list all the fixes. Do a search for '25.01.01 SIB' or for '25.00.04 SIB'.

FYI - there are rumors of a 25.02.00 but I haven't seen an SIB yet.

Good idea, and I have the original SIB that called for V25.00.00, but I can't find the actual more recent SIB's that call for the latest SW versions. But I am a lousy researcher, so might be operator error

regarding V25.02.00: I saw a post by E90Fleet saying it was rumored to come out soon but wouldn't have any updates for the E9x. I guess this SW is common to other platforms like the E60 (?).

I didnt look for each SIB to compare 25.00.02 to 25.00.04. All that matters is whats in the latest version, 25.01.01, as that is what most dealerships will install.

It looks like v25.00.xx breaks VR on '06 e90s and breaks RTTI on '07s. According to the SIB v25.01.xx appears to fix RTTI but no mention of fixing VR. Some members have stated VR has been fixed for them. I would read through all the v25 posts in the iDrive/Audio section of the forum. Then you can decide to get the latest (25.01.01) or wait.

Yes, progmans are common to all recent platforms but dont always contain new updates for every model.

EDIT: I had some thoughts re-reading your orginal post. It could be your dealership has 25.02.00 as their latest update - e90Fleet did say that was coming out soon. 25.02.00 should contain the updates from 25.00.xx and 25.01.xx - just no new updates for e9x's. If 25.01.01 fixes VR (not sure - read v25 posts) then your dealership installing 25.02.00 would fix VR. Read the v25 posts about fixing VR and confirm with your dealer they have 25.02.00 and not 25.00.02.

I got my software upgraded from 21 to 25 and hoping VR isn't gone (i wasn't aware of this before getting the update) But I am sure they will have to get a fix for that and the update is definitely worth it for what you're getting..

OZ, please report back to help out Chi-town and any others reading this thread with '06 e90's. Let us know if VR still works and if anything else is broken. Ask your SA what specific progman version was installed. So far I have read of versions

AFAIK 25.00.xx break VR and RTTI. 25.01.xx fixes RTTI and maybe fixes VR. 25.02.xx does the same as 25.01.xx.

Dude, no need to worry. they must be talking about 25.02.00, which is what I'm told I got (last week), and is what others have been told they got here in the DC area. It works perfectly well on my 330i. VR works.

Also - Fleet reported that, for the E9x, there is no functional difference between 25.01.01 versus 25.02.00.

to address a few of your questions/comments:

1) I agree the only thing that really matters is getting the latest version, was just wondering what my options/decisions are given what version they might get next.

2) as to whether they mean V25.02.00 or V25.00.02, I totally agree, and I sent an email asking the same thing (the email they sent me said they have "V25.02"). The reason I BELIEVE they have the older version is because:

a E90Fleet said V25.02.00 isn't even out yet, and nobody has been talking about it on here
b) When I got V25 originally loaded, they said they installed "V25.01", and they were referring to V25.00.01, so that points (again) to the nomenclature they (erronously) use, and
c) They installed V25.00.01 just four weeks ago, when V25.00.04 was already out according to many people on here, so they seem to lag a bit.

I think I got the version 25.00.01 and I can confirm that Voice Recognition works. I tested commands such as FM and CD and I had no problems there. The new update does have a whole lot of new options and it looks much better+sharper. I haven't paired my phone yet but I doubt that would be a problem.

Well, my original post was for nothing, as my assumption was incorrect.

The SA emailed me yesterday evening saying they indeed have the very recent V25.02.02.

He had first called it "V25.02", hence my concern that it was the outdated V25.00.02. My concern was based on the fact that just last month he told me they installed "V25.01" in my car, and they actually installed V25.00.01, which busted my voice commands. So when he said now they were going to put in "V25.02", I thought oh crap, they are going to throw in V25.00.02, which some folks still had problems with.

I originally had V25.00.01 uploaded in (month ago) and it definitely broke the voice commands. and when I pointed that out to tech (right there when I was picking up the car, that's how I tested which version they installed because they originally wouldn't tell me), he said "oh yea, it does that, we have a new version coming in a few weeks".

if your VC is working you might have gotten V25.01.01.? there are a number of bugs in V25.00.01, just FYI.

I had 25.02 installed last week when they replaced my TCU because the BMW Assist failed. Now every think works fantastic... better than new! VR is almost flawless. You will like it. THe only thing that happened was for some reason the bluetooth un paired and I could get itr to re-pair. Took it down to the dealer and the service island jockey paired it first try Don't know why and don't care every thing is finnally working very well including VR, Navi etc..:rocks:

Ive had 25.02 for over a month and it works great...no issues at all.
