Dinan S2 Tune Lost!!

I took my 550i to the dealer to get rid of a replace battery warning and received a software update (stating programming error). I even told them about the tune and not to erase it with the instructions on the door jam.

Needless to say, the tune got erased and now I feel like I lost 2 cylinders --- too bad I have to pay to have it re-installed.

DON'T HAVE A SOFTWARE UPGRADE WITH THE DINAN STAGE 2 TUNE!!!

There's been quite a few cars here that have had battery's replaced and software updated at the same time. To keep up with the warranty I doubt the dealer would install a new battery without the software update.

I'm guessing your BMW dealer is not your Dinan dealer?
Lets hope the S2 re-install doesn't impact the BMW software update for the battery.

Dinan shouldn't charge for a reinstall if your car required a BMW software update. Keep us posted on how it turns out.

Yes, they did a drain test and reported the battery good. No, my dealer didn't do the Dinan tune, as they're aren't an authorized dealer in more. I don't know if the replace battery error code was caused by the Dinan tune or not. It happened about 8 months after the Dinan Stage 2 install. We'll see when I get it re-installed.

Garage List
I have a BMW dealership right down the street from me. However, after my Dinan tune......I take it to a dealership that is 20 miles from me. Just a cost of getting 501hp! It's worth the inconvenience.

This software update from BMW is a major one based on what I heard, however, I didn't notice many changes.
Anyways, my car with Dinan S1 was service to recieve new fuel pump on early Dec.
My dealer, which is also a Dinan dealer updated vehicle software and could not re-install Dinan S1. They told me I have to wait for four weeks.
BUT, there is no updated Dinan software for newer BMW software.
Dinan also said it's their high priority update, since 2012 models and updated previous models cannot use original version of both S1 and S2.
In Dinan, this updted was scheduled to be released mid Jan, but didn't happen.
I'm tired of waiting.
Anyone has any news about this???

This has happened to people on their 335i's, and it was free to reflash...
Listen, call DINAN and MAKE them reload it at no cost, tell them that when brough in for warranty work the dealer had to reprogram the car in order for it to run properly and they will re load it for free for you and have them take it up with your dealership.

I know. But the problem is Dinan doesn't have the updates of stg1 and stg2 for the latest BMW software. Previous or original versions are compatible with the latest BMW software, they said.

I heard that Dinan announced updates for S1 and S2 based on the latest BMW software earlier this week. Now you can update 2012 550's as well as 2011 550's whose ECU have been reprogrammed by BMW.

Dinan Stage 2 for 2012 N63

Just got the Dinan Stage 2 loaded today. Throttle response improved noticeably, throaty rumble, lag almost gone. But it's all about the power, and it's there in spades. Dinan delivered exactly when they said they would.
