The Nerdy thread

So what kind of nerdy things are you into? When I was a kid I used to play D&D, R/C cars and collect comic books. I just recently got back into comic books and R/C cars are kinda on the back burner. I also race go-karts.

Oh, I love birding, flowering and gardening. I also love telescoping at night, and reading nature books. I love to watch bugs too!

I used to take goldfish and tie one of them to a popsicle stick, then I would place them on one of the old "O" gauge Lionel train tracks then I would turn the power up....slowly until the little bugger just lept off the track. Fun huh?

This is called the nerdy thread. Not the "What a person with anti-social and potentially murderous tendancies would do when they were young" thread.

On another not I used burn up ants with my magnifying glass death ray and uni-bomb their mounds with left over fourth of july firecrackers.

Wow, I did similar things... I toasted them while they ran. But that's not nerdy.

I did the AD&D & TMNT & Robotech (of course) role playing games.

I did the AD&D and video games thing for a while, then got heavily into computers, started with the old TI and Commodore64. And now I still build all my own computers and repair aviation electronics for a living. Whoops! Guess I am stil a Nerd

I used to code/administer DikuMUDS, a D&D-like interactive internet game that existed long before Instant Messaging.

I had an old girlfriend break up with me because of this game LOL...

I still run a forum for a counter-strike server that died at least 2 years ago. Being a computer geek, I should like World of Warcraft, but i'd rather be handloading my own ammunition (been a while for that) or playing paintball.

Just how nerdy can you stand? And what's this used to be nerdy stuff?

Recent picture--

And then there's this high power rocketry hobby thing--

though that's slowed down considerably under current "Homeland Insecurity" rules.

Okay, so making goldfish jump isn't nerdy. I never did do nerdy, hung around with a group of refined young gentlemen that used to chase nerds and kick the crap out of them. Does that count?

I have been a computer and network systems administrator for 29 years now and still spend at least 12+ hours per day in front of a monitor. I also have 2 different sets of bifocals as a result too - one for normal use and another set for when I am sitting at one of my computers.

Sadly my main hobby besides my cars is photography which at this point is entirely digital so I spend more time yet in front of my computers.
