BMW feeling old?

So i've been looking around here for a while now, and most everything here is for either 328i or 335i. The E90 325i gets no love, why?? maybe it is time for a upgrade.

Think back to when the 325i/330i came out. I was at the unveiling, and in the fall of 2005 I rode in the 330i with professional BMW drivers. the 330i was my dream car. I say lucky for me, by the time I was financially ready to buy, the 335i coupe had just come out 3 mos. prior, so I got a 335i coupe.

Sure, this is now a forum of teenagers driving 335is coupes but so what, don't sell the 325i short. 6 1/2 years ago that car was somebody's dream.

They only sold the 325 and 330 for one model year in the US so there's just not that many out there and on these boards.

Are you kidding? The 2006 325 sedan is the car that made me fall in love with BMW.
Monaco blue, executive model sedan- she was my first. That is where the affair began.
You never forget your first love, no matter how much time may pass. How do you feel about your 325 now?

I also think that as a car co. BMW may have peaked with the E90 sedan/E92 coupe. Think about it, the world economy was roaring, BMW was doing stuff like letting you and me do clinics with professional drivers, in which they burned a set of RE050A's in 50 miles (thanks to Bridgestone giving them tires). They gave us free BMW golf shirts at these events with a big number 3 (the new 3) on the arm, and they donated to Susan Komen and let us drive Alpina B7s and sign our names on 650 convertible coupes with a Sharpie. In other words, times were good.

The 325i/330i's were built when the co. was experiencing good times. Think of your car as a throwback to those times.

Exactly. The short run our model years has made makes them that much more rare as I look at it. Everybody and their mothers (literally see a lot of old women by me driving 335s) has one when you look around. So I would say to just enjoy it for what it is. A six year old car that's pretty rare as far a builds went for the e90s. I got my 330 late nov of 05 and months later the turbos came out. Was kicking myself in the ass after that. But the more I drove it the more I fell in live w it. Slower motor and all.

30 years ago a corvair was someones dream-do not sell that short either!

In all honest people (americans especially) want whatever is latest and new. I am the same way which sucks for me and people like that. I get bored quickly and americans have the attention spann of a pigs ass.

The key is enjoying the car you have or any car for what it is. You have the FIRST ever magnesium based engine ever in a production car. You have the smoothest and highest revving Non-m 6 cylinder engine bmw ever produced. You just need to enjoy it for what it is if you have hope to continue enjoying it. Unfortunately for me that does not work and I get bored and need a new toy, however does not take away with what a spectacular car you have.

With that said if you have the money, upgrade to a 335 or something new!

I fell in love with bmw with my bright red 2000 323i when i purchased it online at invoice because of a carorder.com glitch. I am now loving my 325.

I'll join in with the old farts as well. I'm not sure why everyone calls the 325i "slow". When the E90 came out, Car and Driver clocked it at 6.1 sec. 0 - 60. When I was of driving age in the late '70's if a economy car (which the 3-series is) did anything better than 10 seconds to 60 it was considered fast. You younglings’ have it pretty good when the average car gets to 60 MPH in less than 7 seconds.

Wait until the Obama CAFE regs hit in a few years, say bye-bye to sub 7 second 0 - 60 acceleration times.

My Auntie has a 2010 E90 325i. Its lovely smooth and seems to be very popular in London, also in the E60. Anywhere else though, they are few and far between because, especially in the UK and Europe, the 25i sadly makes little sense. This is because of the 20d and 30d. The 25i has relatively high emissions for not a huge amount of power (217ps). Take the 20d, it has much much lower emissions, 183ps and 50 mpg with a much lower price tag. The 30d has more power (245ps) and LOADS of torque at 520NM whilst still achieving 45 mpg. There is little market for the middle ground of the 25i apart from if you want a good petrol. And if you want a good petrol you get the 30i or 35i. In the F30, it will be 28i or 35i, making the 25i redundant and therefore not in the lineup. The reason why the the 25i isn't popular (in the UK anyway) is because of the fabulous diesels and superior petrols.

I was looking up the 500 cu. in. Cadillac motor a few weeks ago because I was curious what GM could do in the past--it went from 400+ HP in 1970, to 190 HP in 1976. With those CAFE regs I wonder how many cars will still have 500 HP, 400 HP, 300 HP. We all know HP sells cars, wonder if we'll be able to get used to 170 or so all over again?

Ahh, those old 500 C.I. Caddy motors; driven a few back in the day. 8 MPG. My Dad had a 72 Mercury with a 429, so sweet...

The difference now will be 170 HP with 8 and 10 speed automatics.

I drive a 325 and I love my car! Sometimes I wish it was a little bit faster, but then I make it slide on a turn and It reminds me how much I love it. My wife drives a 335 and she tells me my car is slow, but I don't care. The 325 is a different animal than the 335, they each have their good qualities. Like someone else said, the over abundance of 335s and 328s just makes our cars that much rarer. Love your car for what it is.
