What the hell happened here?

So I park my car outside, and my sister came in the house yelling, "what happened to the BMW sign on your trunk?" I go outside and apparently someone scraped the color off my roundel. Why would someone do this? The rest of my car is completely fine. I'm just completely baffled at the moment. I guess it's time for a new roundel. Where's the cheapest place to pick one up? Thanks in advance.

If you're debadged already it would make it a little harder to get parking tickets.

mine cracked at a car wash pressure washer and started coming off in chips. if someone did that to your car on purpose, they didn't get away with an intact logo. it would have been in pieces, especially around the letters. surprised there aren't pieces on the ground by your car.

more likely, someone took your entire badge off your car, and left their fucked up one as a thank you prank.

just replace the roundel. They are cheap. AFter time those roundels do turn out like that especially if your car sees hot and cold weather a lot and parked outside.

I came to the exact same conclusion. If someone was pissed at me, why would they just scratch the roundel? I think they just wanted the roundel and gave me their old shitty one.

UHH... VERY, VERY common. A car wash took the finish off mine once. It was like $20 for a new one. We get trades in all the time with that too.

if you are under warranty, and can convince the dealer a car wash did this, you can get a new one. i have seen dealers replace the entire airbag just to fix the roundel on the steering wheel.

Unfortunately, I'm no longer in full maintenance, just CPO. They won't cover it

If there was some thing wrong with the adhesive it's possible it could fall off anytime.

Odd that it has the same dirt and dust pattern as the rest of the trunk lid.

Yea defnitely wasn't stolen. Think it just fell off. a while ago. OP probably doesn't walk around the back too often if he parks head in at home and walks around front of car to get in house. Just a thought.

I'd be fuming. Did you contact security? That parking lot has a good amount of cameras in it. The Block in Orange is fuggin ghetto though, imports galore so I am not too surprised when someone saw your BMW parked all alone by itself they felt that they needed to show their displeasure with you.

This same exact thing happened to me 2 days ago. Mine looks exactly like your picture. I first thought it was stolen, but after looking at it closely there weren't any pry marks or scratches from a tool such as a flat head screw driver. That's when I figured that it probably somehow fell off. The weird thing is that I saw it on there only about 5-6hrs prior to noticing that it was missing. I just ordered a new one from Tischer yesterday.

reminds me of the army, someone finds something missing so they steal it from someone else, and the cycle goes on and on. we have a saying... "there is only one thief in the army, everyone else is just trying to get their shit back"

I also noticed that you live in Florida and I live in Texas...extremely humid regions. Maybe that's the culprit?
