Where do you mount your Radar Detector
Hi Folks, Just wondering where do you guys mount your Radar Detector. I recently got a 9500ix and luckily the previous owner already had a power cable for it hanging down close to the rear view mirror.

I have the mirror mount from countryjoycrafts.com and while it looks nice it isn't too functional. It limits the movement of your rear view mirror so far taller people you can't set it where you'd like it to be. I'm contemplating taking the mount off and using the suction cups again.

I had both of mine "wired in" with a short pigtail hanging from just to the left of the rearview mirror. It's mounted so that the antenna/lens (for laser) is just below the tint band on the windshield and just to the left of the edge of the mirror. Mounting it high increases your chances of intercepting a radar beam, but word on the street is that laser typically is aimed lower, and some prefer mounting their detector in the center of the windshield closer to the dashboard.

with 9500ix, if you use the auto-dimming feature (which is great), you'll have to mount it with the top part exposed to the window/outside.
if you mount it too close to the roof, auto dimming / gps won't work well. |

Yes - it's the easiest way to mount it. I also put little felt dots on the top front edge of the case so that it doesn't rattle against the glass.

Same detector hardwired tot he fuse box. I have the dual suction mounts and the detector is about 1-2 o'clock from the rear view mirror. I rarely bother looking at it because it tells me what radar band, and with the GPS, I get very few false alarms anymore.
