Introducing myself (and my new 335i)

Hey all. Just joined and wanted to introduce myself. Just picked up a 2008 335i sedan with ~30k miles -- a Christmas present to myself

I'm new to the E90, though I'm not new to BMWs/German cars (have an E39, and just got rid of a MKV Jetta Wolfsburg).

This one came with an aftermarket exhaust of unknown origin (definitely not stock, though I'm not sure exactly what it is -- maybe someone here could tell me what to look for to find out what it might be), as well as some other misc. tweaks, some of which are tasteful and others I plan on modifying or removing.

It's been raining and kind of crappy around here but I managed to get a few quick shots. Planning on a proper photoshoot later this week in a better location than my driveway.

Anyway, nice to meet everyone Let the modding begin!

Thought I had already posted this one, but that'll teach me to post without previewing first Here's the "whole car"...

if you can, take a photo of the exhaust and maybe someone can identify it for you. Are those authentic M6 or M6reps?

I'm sure the owner maybe did a lot more with the car... but you never know unless they told you.

Got any modification plans set forth already?

Thanks, I'll do that. I've attempted to crawl under the car and see if I can find anything, but it's been raining, and I don't have a lift. I did some browsing around YouTube for exhaust clips and based on sound alone I would think it might be Borla, but we all know how accurate YouTube diagnostics can be

Yes, I believe the original owner may have done quite a bit with the car. I bought the car from a non BMW dealership that specializes in Euros; they told me that the car had upgraded suspension, exhaust, brakes and was "chipped" (though I'm not sure they knew what that meant. The OBDII port cover is missing and the front air box cover looks like it's been removed and replaced [loose screws], so my bet is that someone was running a JB tune and just removed it before selling the car). The car was actually a lease return, so I have all service records but BMW couldn't tell me anything about the aftermarket mods, other than they weren't Dinan (obviously).

And yes, those M6s are the real deal. I confirmed with BMW that they were purchased/installed through the original dealership. Score. I've always loved those wheels.

As for future mods, I'm still doing some research as I'm new to BMW tuning (I come from VW and DSM). I'll probably start with a JB2 and possibly work towards a FMIC and replacement of the charge pipe/BOV/intake system later down the road once I'm ready to turn the boost up a bit.

Don't think those M6 wheels are real. They're reps for sure based on the non-aggressive fitment and lack of concavity.

Lovely and very nice wheels.

The modding bug is contagious and difficult to get rid off once you take a step towards the dark side.

Definitely planning on trying a blacked out grill -- I've seen it a few times in person and it's sweet. Unfortunately the windows are as dark as they're going to get due to ridiculous tint laws in Texas. State Troopers here have been known to stand with you by the side of the road and make you peel off your tint (plus you won't pass state inspection). Oh well. They are (I believe) 35% in front, 25% in back.

Thanks, I will ask about that the next time I'm at BMW. I assume they should have a serial number on them somewhere, reps or otherwise, right?

Agreed, definitely. I like the black/red look but some big Brembo calipers would look much nicer It's on my to-do list.

Nice clean ride. Looks like they did a good job painting the calipers. Now all I need is two more post and 24 hrs so I can start pm'ing people in for sale section so I too can own a 335i!

You can have limo tint in the back and 25/30% on the fronts. I think they recently changed it to 25% in the front, but not sure. As long as you have the sticker from the tint shop on your driverside front you shouldn't get hassled.
