Center armrest help (E90 Sedan)

The center armrest hits my elbow in exactly the wrong spot. Like, right in the 'funny bone' spot. I can't get my arm back far enough to actually use it as an armrest, so I end up in an uncomfortable position. My shoulder's already got problems, so it makes long drives pretty painful.

Any one else with a similar problem found a solution? Will the split armrest help, perhaps?

I assume the only solution would be the split arm rest. It looks nice at least!

I think the split armrest is the same size.

I too had your problem, and I scored the split armrest. There's a DIY thread with a video (towards the end of thread) showing step by step instructions. One of the best and easiest mods I so far done.

I moved from Lancer to BMW stick shift, and I had the same problem. Somehow, I managed to change my style of shifting and now I find it more confortable.
I was not aware of this split armrest, sounds good to me.

Delta-V, I had the same problem. Actually, my elbow didn't even reach the original armrest. The split armrest definitely helps - it slides forward approx. 2.5 inches maybe. My elbow rests on it now, though it's not a full flush rest, more like at the elbow point. Overall imo, it's worth the $160 (for the imitation leather). It looks cool too. Lastly, for what it's worth, I have an auto.

That is a great video, don't have to take out the climate controls from the back seat.

Im 5'9 and don't have T-rex arms........

Never noticed my elbow being a problem.

I'll check it. Now I'll get bugged out!

Looks like a nice mod. My 530i was split and it was nice.

One of my favorite parts of the mod is how nice the leather looks.

Thanks for the replies everyone. Looks like I'll be ordering the split armrest soon.

For the record, I'm 5'10", but short-legged. Shifting's not a problem (6M), but just finding a position to rest my arm that doesn't aggravate my shoulder is impossible at the moment.
