Sport Airbag?

I've seen two different BMW sport airbags, anyone know what the difference is?

The difference is in the back of the airbag...

I'm definitely having an issue with a sport airbag I purchased, see connector:

compared to this one:

The steering wheel connector plug looks like it would fit in the latter, but definitely does not fit in the first pic...anyone know why?
