Fine scratches in wood trim
I was noticing today that there are lots of fine scratches in my anthracite wood trim. Almost looks like clear coat swirl marks. Any way of getting rid of these? I'm not even sure how these got here as I never touch these surfaces with anything but micro-fiber cloth with some distilled water.

you can polish it up just like paint. take something like optimum poliseal and a foam applicator and do it by hand. Or you can get crazy with it and tape everything off inside the car and put a machine to it!
optimum poliseal menzerna 106 menzerna powerfinish meguiars D300 meguiars scratch x those are some you can use. |

Somewhere in the archives where I was discussing my choice to go with the Aluminum Hexagon, one of the primary reasons was because that wood got so scratched up by the keys or anything else that hit it. It was quite frustrating.
When my 1st F10 was taken back for the "right pull" issue by the dealer I was certain NOT to get the anthracite trim. The aluminum hexagon trim shows no scratches and fits well if your going for the racier M-sport image.

I am going to try to use one of the products mentioned above and then possibly put some clearbra around my gear selector area as it keeps getting scratched to hell no matter how careful I am. Seems even a soft towel or microfiber will put minor swirl lines in it even if I am careful to remove the dust before I wipe

I have had very good results with a product I use for the clear plastic on my boat. It is designed to polish the scratches out of the plastic windshields. It is available at any boat store. I have the black anthracite wood and I polish it with this product about once a month and the wood looks new.

Bconover - any chance you could let us know the name of this product?
Also does it protect against new scratching? Anything special you do application wise? |

The product is Meguiars Mirror Glaze Clear Plastic Cleaner. The instructions tell you to follow it with their polish, but I used Nu Finish. I think the shine is better than new. I had scratches on the wood next to the shifter. It now looks great. I have not had any new scratches since the application. I bought it at West Marine, but I'm sure you can get it at any automotive store.
