Hit and Run at the Park and Ride Parking Lot.........Happy Holidays to me.

I park at the Park and Ride every AM to catch the casual carpool or the bus. I've been doing it for 5 yrs now and no problems. This is what I saw last night......

I backed into the space yesterday. I'm thinking the car to the left of me did the same thing and when he was leaving the driver didnt get enough clearance when turning right and smached into my bumper. I think the car next to me was a white car, but wasnt paying attention cause I had to catch the carpool.

My deducatible is $1k, do you guys think it'll cost more then that? If so then I'll go through insurance. I checked and there doesnt seem to be any cracks, just huge dents and paint scracthes. Also my headlight is lightly scratched, but I'm hoping that'll buff out. Maybe its time for the M-Sport kit.

OP
sorry to hear that. Does not matter where you park as on any given day some asshole can come along and wack your car.

I'm not a body expert but it looks like you will need a new bumper so I say go for the M-Sport and make your holidays happy.

simple fix, headlights fine, thats the good news.

take bumper off, apply heat, press out the dent from the inside. massage her out while heating. buff out scratches and you're good!

1k deductible?? time to get a new quote on insurance so you dont have to fork over so much and have such a high deductible.

sucks what happened though. i hate it when people dont own up to their mistakes. it all comes around though.

If that were my car I would remove the bumper and take it to a body shop to get repaired and repainted. I did that with my wife's car and it was around $700. This method not only keeps insurance low but also keeps the record out of the Carfax database .

DIY buddy! That should be around $500 to repair at a proper body shop of you shop around. Or; as I said DIY and paint should only be $300 after you've done all the preparation and labour.

Used bumper should only cost you 200$ on here. DIY installation, not too hard and youtube videos that show you how to do it.

With my insurance (State Farm) you need to show that the driver was un-insured to use UM coverage. Other wise it's comprehensive or collision coverage.

WTF does the cost of a F350 and F250 have to do with anything? Your handle should be left of zero.

Great News!!!!

My wifey went to the parking lot today to check around cause I told her that maybe that driver that hit me didnt know they hit me. I told her it was a white car and damage may be on the passenger side w/ my color paint on their car.

Sure enough my wifey spots a POS Sentra w/ damage to the passenger side rear door. She calls the parking lot cops, cops come and she gives a statement saying she thinks its this car because of the damage and the paint. Cops agree, take down the plates, and says they'll call the registered owner and ask. If the person denies it then thats it.

Cops called 1 hr ago and told wifey and I that she was right. They had actually waited for the driver to show up, and the lady confessed to hitting my car. Shes an older lady and was scared when it happened. The cops got all her info + insurance info and gave it to us.

I'll be calling AAA tomorrow AM. My wifey is awesome!!

So tell me the pics of your car are of it not in the location/position it was in when the lady hit you. For the life of me, after looking at both pics of the damage to you car and hers and the direction of the scrapes and dent in the bumper, I can't figure out how or from what direction she hit your car.

The damage to the Sentra is on the rear-right, and the BMW front-left. So the woman had to have been to the left of the BMW and rather than pull out straight she turned right? Or she was in front of the BMW, and somehow backed into it along its side and made contact on the rear-right door? I agree, it doesn't make a whole lot of sense. If I were that lady's insurance adjustor I'd be seeking a reasonable explanation--no joke, I'd need to confirm the insured is not in cahoots with the claimant. But that's not the OP's problem, it's the Sentra's problem. Also what's weird is PD does all that without seeing the BMW, and the person is not charged with hit and run. There are a lot of issues with this scenario! People with existing damage to your cars, beware because apparently you can be accused without any supporting evidence...DOH!!

So the only scenario I can think of is she was parked in the space left of the BMW. The space in front of her was blocked, but the space in front of the BMW was open. Considering the BMW is parked so far rearward in its space, so instead of the lady backing out of her space she decided to try and squeeze cattycorner between the BMW to her right (the OPs car) and the car cattycorner the OPs car (the car in front of her) and dragged her right-side rear door along the front left corner of the OPs car.

If the scenario was that the OP's BMW hit the Sentra, I could believe it -- but how the Sentra could cause that kind of damage to the BMW has me baffled. Of course, if the Sentra owner confessed to the crime, it's not the OP's problem any more.

BTW, I'm from the "old school" and would never leave a nice car in a daily commuter parking lot. http://articles.nytimes.com/1998/04/...%20cars&st=cse
